Oh man its ridiculous down there.....you'll always get the fresh aroma of brakes at the bottom of Monteagle. You're right about drivers fouling up there. The thing about Monteagle is that it's a lot of traffic traveling 24, and if a driver is reckless, he may not be able to get to those runaway ramps because they are on the left if you're going eastbound.

Watched a vid of that road. The driver was aggresive and made the assumption that they would always be able to brake their speed. Easy to see why this driver missed the turn.

Plus, I'm retiring from the open road. Currently hunting a lucrative Gate Guard position. They're not easy to find and $8 an hour would somewhat crimp my lifestyle.Dale thompson, stwik, NavigatorWife and 1 other person Thank this. -

Nothing really surprises me with the newbie flop flop crowd anymore, flat on the floor ..bumper to bumper and run to crash .

All the mountain passes out west for the most part in Colorado Utah California Oregon Montana etc. are very unforgiving if you fail to or refuse to comprehend and obey the warning signs on those passes… They are there for a reason and more times than not you don’t have a second chance… with that being said there are some serious mountain passes in the Northeast as well that are very well known that I have experienced mountain graves of 9% the folks need to heed the warning signs on these passes… Better to get there late than never to get there at all
