I'm sorry if I offended either of you, truely was not my intention. May I asked why you guys got so offended? There was no reason to jump down my throat and make threats toward me, I have disrespected you in no way. If it was the adjectives I used to describe the trucker from hell (un-this, un-that, etc.) I apologize, but in my mind this would be the guy that would give her and myself #### in the industry. I'm not into myself, contrary to what you think; I've got a low self esteem. I did not imply I would be hit on if that is what you meant when saying "the other guy will say I came on to him", but rather the sexual harrasment claims would stem from using words such as "gay" and "homo". Is it bad to dress nicely? Am I in the wrong for being fearful of getting into a truck with someone whom might have the wrong idea about me? If so, then I apologize for even thinking of something that absurd. I mean, how naive of me for thinking that not one driver out there would be so closed minded. I didn't expect to be flamed like this, so OP I'm sorry for your thread running OT. If you guys feel the need to jump to conclusions and insult someone like this, I sure wish you the best and god forbid I should run into on the road. (BTW before you two jump to conclusions and raise your precious little guards up (which you like to do so well) the last statement was not a threat, rather, a wish that I don't run into people so arrogant.)

why would you think someone will call you "gay'' or homo" if you're NOT dressing nice and looking "pretty".....you opened up the door to your ridicule, not us. if one (not necessarily you), but if someone "prances or sashays" around a truck stop parking lot or god forbid a rest area, how is another person supposed to "view" what they see other than a "gay" or "homo"...??

there are indeed a LOT of arrogant people out there in the trucking world, so you would be better served to wear jeans (not tight mind you) and a work shirt, and maybe occasionally not shaved.

First i have too agree with everyone here, right off the bat, there much better then crst, i trained women,males, didnt matter too me what over there in the driver seat, as long as its a warm body and getting my split of there pay, you are just a warm body over at crst, that's how you are trained too, from the driver trainer all the way too big shots, they could care less about you , they just want a warm body too make money for them, i myself couldnt handel that logic anymore, even when i went inside too ask them about something as i wanted too try train my student diferntly , they said just do it this way, i just shruged my sholders okay, but aft i was outa site of yard , i did it my way, like my dad taught me, had one lady who trying the backup from blind side and i should her a simple trick and told me noboby showed her that trick, i used my little truck model alot, but i then quit and everyboby ask were i went and lady piped up , well ya lost the best trainer as i walking past as i got my last paycheck as i overheard talking with her dm,i went over too us exprexx and stared traing with more money, there the place i would go, but i found out they dont train or have a school out there no more, but prepare too stay out for a month at a time, unloading own trl sometimes very heavy boxs , like a load of washing machines, with concrete blocks in the bottom of washing machine, thats a fun load too unload, i did like the time i got aload of us army mail , across the usa with non stop, coops seen that bumper sticker waved me right thru, and if you get your hazmat , then when get that load , you have too go the dow company, and sit in there breakroom wacthing movies all morning, how too unload-load your trl and wear your gear for there plant, then follow there paths , meanwhile and these are super tight little roads they have in there plants, wacthing your trl rear so you dont hit one those big pipes they have running all the place,ya trucking fun was for me , dont let a girl stop you , you can do it , if you have a mindset too, its all about you and if you want too , you come too the right place for answers but beware this forum is alot like the cb , only belive in half they say here throw in the stew pot en see what comes out the pot

 

lilbit68, woman are more than welcome in the industry. Woman are completely equal and can do the job just as well. You'll make many friends and find help around any corner. Of course you'll run across all walks of life, but that happens anywhere.
What can you expect? You'll lose alot of conveniences of being at home. You'll be away from your husband. It'll take a good year to start making decent money.
Just keep a positive attitude.
But CRST? That's the bottom of the barrel. I would seriously consider another choice.

Whatch going to do? Slap him? I doubt a 400 lb, unshaven, unshowered, unintelligent redneck would even hit on you even though you might wish. Go ahead and keep thinking your smarter than most. You go in with that attitude, they'll eat you alive. I see why you have to take crap.
