For every one success at a new business venture there are a whole lot more that fail for any number of reasons. Some folks can be handed a successful business ($3m + net annum) and inside of 6 months be in the red (I watched that one myself) some folks are good business people, an still fail due to circumstances beyond their control. Some are bad business people, and are bound to fail before they even start.

Home run loads don't happen every day. A couple of years ago up in Appleton WI I scored two rounds from a local cheese distributor to the Tombstone Pizza factory $500 each round, 20 miles round trip. That's $25 per mile.

I never said I got rid of truck and trailer.
The $6000 load had a declared value of 77 million.
    500 freight charges 5500 insurance.

May I just interject here and point out that we have it a lot better than a lot of industries. At worst, a swifty can expect $750/wk if he stays out a few weeks. Just as an example, pilots for American Eagle take home between 17k and 25k yr if they're lucky. And they are only paid for gear up time so many nights are spent in apartments and pilot lounges at the airport. And all of this on top of at least $50k of loans and cost related to training.

Or... you could be in Syria getting your head seperated from your shoulders.

It could be worse. Try to be thankful for the things you do have, especially so close to Thanksgiving :)
