I sympathize with your choice of Melton -- but if heavy haul is your goal -- I think Maverick Transportation would probably be a better starting place.
Why?
Maverick has multiple divisions -- including glass, & marine -- so you would get more diverse experience with different types of trailers (like lo-boys) & freight types (like boats/jet skis -- not as much tarping!).
Maverick also has a facility/terminal very near the Chicago area....
