I had a year off due to a worker comp injury back in 2005. One company I am applying at wants 10 years history.

The doctors gave me no impairment at all. How would I cover this on an application?

I have done lots of heavy work since then, ever do carpet installation? Also when I worked at Lowes I was slinging boxes of ceramic tile, bath tubs, rolls of carpet, walk behind mowers, pushed riding mowers into the back of pickups etc....

    Thanks in advance.

    A Company Name
    An Address
    A Phone Number
Someone at that address/phone to complete the Work History Verifacation form and return it to the inquiring Company that sent it.

Someone at said location to answer the phone to verify
the information on the submitted application.

    Simple. . . . . :yes2557:

Rule of thumb; Don't Offer Any More Information Than Is Asked Of You!!!!

You can steer towards companies that do not require a background check if all else fails.

Well I don't know what they can ask of a former employer. This particular one wants 10 years. I was laid off due to the injury.

Get a friend to call and or fax in a work verification form. It is just a generic form...just to see what your former employer will list.

Some companies do not ask about workers comp on their applications.

In SC, an employer does NOT have the right to disclose such information, but the applicant should if it is asked of them.

    Baack Thanks this.

Well first off they are going to want to know where you were for that year. Second the company that you worked for can't legally discuss you workers comp case. So your options would be tell the truth or figure out how to cover it up. It's up to you.

He will sign a release form to his last company and that company will release any information needed! You need to cover everyweek after you were put on workers comp. Start from that day/week and come forward in time. The time on workers comp you put as such then any and every job since! Do NOT try to lie your way or have someone send in information on you. It's to easy to get caught and then you will have a bad DAC report for falsifying a job application and screw up any chance to get another driving job!

Most of these companies will probally have you do a refresher course and team with a trainer for a while to be sure you still "remember" what to do and I see no way for you to get around that but as long as you fill the application out you should be ok except for one thing...your age and experience! You and me aren't young and trainees and thats what most of these bottom feeders are looking for these day is someone who doesn't know what a driver is REALLY worth and are using these poor fools as seat holders and to place trucks somewhere where they MIGHT get a load in a couple of days!

    Good Luck

Companies need 10 year work history (Federal Rule), but, only have to verify the last 3. (also a Federal rule)
