And many do! Most of the time carriers want extra information because of a background check or they just don't like what they see and want more info.

    Sorry for my postings .

I assumed that if you presented a TWIC card that you were much more hire able because the government gave you it and you showed some initiative towards obtaining it.

But what the hell do .i know

And maybe because the insurance companies want it?

There could be many reasons to want to know more than what is strictly required, especially when the employee will be in charge of freight worth, sometimes, millions of dollars.

If you were referring to my quoting of you, I am sorry you took it the wrong way. I don't enjoy calling someone out like that. Its just I get bothered by even the trivial things that new drivers are told that are not true. The list of trucking myths and untruths could fill a small book. I see it in these forums almost everyday, so much so I just PM the person asking and show them the actual law or regulation in that way I don't start major flame war out in the open and get everybody banned. These newbees need accurate information. Its not easy to learn the ropes as a new driver, stay out of trouble and deal with the Federal, State and local laws. I have seen new drivers being told by older drivers its OK to abandon a truck just make sure your not under a load and tell the company where it is. I won't get into further detail on this as I said I want to avoid a flame war.

As too your TWIC comment I am in general agreement with you. However the dirty little secret is most of the mega carriers don't give a rats patoot if you get a TWIC card.

Werner and US Xpress Enterprises asked for 3 years. They asked if I was fired from any of them or left all of them on my accord.

So as I'm assuming if those two big carriers only want 3 that's probably the average. Oh yeah, same with CRST when I originally had expressed interest in them. They pulled my HireRight, before pre hiring me. If they had cared about 5 years ago when I was 21 years old and stupid, I know they would have passed.

As long as you weren't fired within their time frame requested you should be fine. Any gaps probably need a simple explanation if no taxes were paid. As for myself right now while I'm going to cdl school I still technically have 2 jobs. Uber and a private security company, but I only work maybe 10 hours a week as all my attention is to learning all I can about being the safest driver I can.

Would you please post a link where it states that being fired from a job disqualifies you from being hired. I was terminated from my job in 2011. I was working again in a week.

If you are done speeding, your ticket won't mean much after 3 years. In the meantime, you can still get hired but it will lower your options until time passes. 20 over is enough to take you to jail. If it was only say 5 or 6 over it wouldn't mean much. Hahaha...You guys remind me so much of myself when I started. I had one license suspension back in 1977. I got my first truck driving job in 1980. I got one ticket after another and almost had my license suspended a second time. I also had a major accident in 1981. If that isn't enough, your learners permit you get when you are 16; It got suspended too. I had a lot of trouble getting out of the chute. Fast forward, my last ticket was in 1998. When I go to apply for a job these days, it don't take long before they are asking me when I can start.

You can have an excellent driving record too but you have to play by the rules and earn it.
