Some places will have you fill out a form as to why you haven't been employed and have witnesses sign it to the fact. Dont give up--there may be someone out there willing to give you a shot! Good luck!

I agree with danc694u, and would add that simply talking to neighbors or past aquaintances would help. Be honest and say that you are applying to drive after going to tractor trailer school. And incase someone called them would they say they know you. Ask for a referal from the school. Maybe they can suggest a company. And how was the school paid? If it was after you received a loan then how did you qualify for the loan? there might be a reference. try to find companies that train new grads. You might have a better chance being a new grad with no work history than you might think. If they are still uncompramiseing and demand recent work history then find out how much of a work history you will need to establish and work on that until you can reapply again. good luck. If you get in without haveing to work another job first for a few months tell me what company too, maybe I'd apply also.

I had this same issue..no work history, for the past 4 years while I was a SAHM. Got turned down by a dozen or so companies until I found out that's all it was. Most companies will accept letters from a professional; your minister, teacher, doctor, etc. I was able to find a company that would accept letters from non-professionals, but they were required to be non-family members.

Keep trying they are out there! Good luck!

Find a local driving job and work that for a little. Schoolbus, dumptruck, cab driver, anything that will make it easier.

Ive been lurking here for awhile.... I have read soo many Threads/Posts.

I have a question, but first I have to give you some background....

I recently lost my 2nd job (I still have one). The job I still have is paying ZERO, due to training issues of the employer and a new law that I thought would grandfather me in and has not, yet I am still an employee (employed 19 months). I am in the process of getting another job (I would never pin all my hopes on the Trucking Career). I have had a total of 3 jobs in the last 10 years with my current job overlapping the other two by 6 months or more begining to end, and the job I lost I only worked there for 11 months....

    Job 1 (04/96-03/07)
    Job 2 (08/06- present)
    Job 3 (03/07-02/08

Will getting a temporary job/jobs (up until I leave for training) look bad on my employment history? or, cause problems with the whole process?

Any suggestions if this comes up?

LOL, you sound like me, juggling all the jobs and having an overlapping work history. You don't have any gaps so I would imagine that you would be fine.

Hi, my work history has been sketchy since about 2006. My father was a town constable (just serve papers) and he was stricken with cancer. I "worked" for my father ie.. driving him around and spending some good time with him. He passed away in march and now I don't know what to say to a future employer about "working" for my dad, but it was all under the table pay. Before that, Ive worked for 10 years straight between 3 jobs 5,3,2. I'm about to get my cdl-a in a couple of weeks.

As long as you have a clean DAC and MVR then you should be fine on that side of the fence. As far as proving you worked for your father if their is anyone such as your mom, or preferably a co-worker of your late fathers who can verify you did do that with him then you should be fine. If that doesnt work just simply ask the recruiter at whatever company you go with what are your options it may come down to just saying you didnt work and getting a print out from the social security administration showing no income for that time period.
