You're right I paid my dues for many years to reach my goal. I only show my wages so that maybe a new driver that's getting a little discouraged can have something to shoot for. I started at 12½ a mile and got hardly nothing for unloading the trailer. It's no secret that any job starts out with low pay and you have to work up. And it's no secret that driving a truck OTR is a lifestyle. The object is to set goals for yourself and if you choose to drive a truck to make a living and not living to drive then you've got to work for peanuts to gain the experience needed for the better jobs. Maybe someday it will be fair and a driver will get paid for all of his time away from home. But until then a driver must do alot of research and legwork to find the better companies instead of just letting a recruiter find your job.

You was WAY over your 60/70 hour rule -

And if a driver did not falsify his log in such a way, would it cost him in miles and consequently earnings? -
Bingo!!!!!!!!
DOT is not going to put you in jail for writing down 15 minutes to fuel when it took you 45 minutes.. DOT is not going to put you in jail for writing down 30 minutes at a shipper when it took you an hour.. They know wassup.. They are really looking for the guys who run 2-3 logbooks and really are pushing it...
Now you see where the 13-16 hour days come in???80-100 hours a week? your logs will not reflect that..
Just log best you can within reason and you will make money.. thats being honest
Legal part-- You should run 100% legal and I do not recommend anybody cheating -
