Kinda isn't fair to everybody else ? Maybe it kinda isn't fair to veterans military age people unwilling to serve get handed WIA money to go to school . Like you said . Vets are mature and disciplined as opposed to the many whiners we see examples of here . If you had a business which one would you trust a valued account to ?

    True..:yes2557:...I think?

Listen, I drove for werner and can say I was happy there. Unless you have

actually drove for them, you don't know how smoothly of an operating system they

have, kind of policies, or what some of the advantages or things that you will enjoy about

them are. They have in my opinion, WAY more good things about them then bad.

Their "system" really is driver oriented believe it ornot.

The main thing I was fond of was their planning capabilities/drvr log hours being incorperated into

their ld board and if you are a hard runner with a decent dispatcher, can make alot of $ bcuz of this.

If you can ever figure out for yourself the ins and outs of this company

and DONOT!! listen to the #####rs and moaners there you will really enjoy ur

experience however long you may decide to stay

Because of the goverment micro managing everyone. My last OTR gig I did not have Quall comm or any tracking device except for pre pass and I pass or my cell phone, but it is only a matter of time before trucks will be fitted for a tracking device for DOT or a LEO to track where you was and when you was. The old days of trucking are gone. Only a matter of time.

Hey Driver, first off congrats now you will find out what kind of school you went to. Hopefully you had a little bit of road experience. I worked for Werener for 1 year, had a fantastic trainer and got a little experience. I would reccomend to you that if you have a good trainer, and the 2 of you get a long that you do all of your training at once. Its a long time to be away from home that first time but trust me its worth it, you will be that much closer to getting your own truck. If your trainer has a GPS or you have your own , wait and use it after you get your own truck. You want to be able to know where you are going. Remember even with a "Truck" GPS there could be low bridges that they miss. A road Atlas is always the best. Plus if you ask me people seem to think the gps dives the car if you know what I mean. I started for Werner in 2007 got my 1 year experience and a local job just fell into my lap. I wouldnt trade the Time i had OTR for anything met some interesting people and saw more of the country than I ever thought I would. Near the end of the year trucking slows down thats just the way it is especially for a big Company. 1 more piece of advice, when you are with your trainer make sure u get your rest, After those first 2 weeks when you can drive at night , make sure your in the sleeper getting SLEEP. All the energy drinks in the world cant make up for a good nights sleep. :biggrin_25518:Again good luck and as always safety first.

Hi again, Bob the Trucker here. I got through orientation and have had trouble posting my threads but I have been keeping a journal though. I will be posting it in it's entirety in the next couple of days complete with dates so stay tuned. Sorry about the hold up. All I can say now is everything is going very well. Happy New Year! Have a safe 2010.
