I think I have figured out why I am so screwed up.. on direct the securement gets cut in half, not weight of load..
street beater Thanks this. -

He's using straps that are rated at 5,600lbs here. 2 indirect, trailer over/through load back to other side of the trailer, give him 11,200lbs of securement which is 50% of the weight. He's also covered for length as you need 2 for the 1st 10'.
If the load was 10'6" he would need a 3rd strap.
Personally I would put at least 3 4" straps on a 22000lb load.street beater Thanks this. -
Id be at a min of 4... but i like over kill rather than get killed...
-
20k load with direct tie down better have 20k securement,,. Vs indirect I will need 10k securement plus any stairs for length
-
No. Direct or indirect will need at least 10000lbs of securement. It will just take double the securement devices direct.
-
If you woulda seen my first couple loads, every strap on my truck plus a handful from under the cab.. I looked over kill too, but that helps a lot.. more securement for direct clears it up for me..
-
Yup, i just start with length, then add whatever i need to get to at least 75 percent. I'll throw extra straps all day long...
-
Thats what he ment. Direct on 20k takes 20k worth of wll to get to 50 of load weight
