First truck '74 Ford with 13 spd Roadranger transmission, bucked like a bronco on California concrete. Used it for 'bedbugging'. Worst delivery was up three flights of stairs in Boston with a full truck that included a baby grand piano. The lumper we hired spent most of the day wheezing on the sidewalk, he was worthless. Midsummer, temperature hovering close to 100º and humidity not far behind. Can't recall whether truck stops had showers back in the day... didn't matter much... air conditioning meant all the windows were open...

    ... bedbugging... hated it.

I did some part time work for a couple of local outfits when i first started, drove some mid 80's R models with 300 & 350 mack motors and 6 low hole trans, an old corn binder with a 400 big cam and a spicer 7 speed...

pretty rough trucks and low pay, but when your 18 years old trying to find truck driving jobs you take what you can get and your darn happy to get it...

It seems everyone is saying is just have the truck gone through before it leaves the terminal.I didnt know you could do that. But its good to know that you can try for another truck in a polite, proffesional manor.

Yes. If you are being assigned a truck, you need to go through that thing with a magnifying glass. Note anything and everything wrong that would get you ticketed and/or put OOS and get it fixed before you head out. If they won't fix it, it should raise all kinds of red flags. Get safety involved if need be, but don't leave with it.

    Dominick253 and aviatornation Thank this.
