I'm in the midwest region mainly and most Pilots I shower at are ok. Maybe a little small but I don't usually have a problem with cleanliness. But I also have a good idea of which ones are nicer than others. Most Petros I stop at are ok as well. We don't fuel at Flying J but I've paid cash a couple times to shower there and I have to say, if you have to pay out of pocket for it, Flying J is the place to go. As for TA, the only one I ever stay at, eat at, or shower at with any kind of regularity is Iowa 80. Technically it is a TA but only technically. Everything is still run like it was before TA bought it. I've never had any reason to complain about a Love's shower, except that they tend to have those crappy water saving showerheads. Must just be the area in which I operate.

I don't think that it has anything to do with the company that owns it. I think that it has to do with the surroundings. If you are in a crap-hole city, chances are you are gonna have a crap shower.

Why isnt AMbest in this poll.

I had the worst deal at the AMBest in Dalhart, TX. These people are as smart as rocks, they just "assisted" in getting fuel (Card wouldnt read) then they had the gall to say I dont get a shower because I need to fuel. I was like WTF, are you kidding me?

That ordeal lasted the better part of 30 minutes and Management to get involved then I finally get the coupon, get to the shower....no hot water. I just wanted to leave a big steaming mess on the floor as I left, of course I didnt but I wanted to.

    Morons, the bunch of them.

Well this is the sad truth! Back in the late 1980 when the big cheez who overlooked truckstops saw that so many travelers took to the t/s, they decided they wanted to make money off them, since these traveler's were told the best food could be found there. We the waitresses and employees were now told the trucker was no longer the preferred customer, and no longer held priority for service over the neighborhood hangouts. Thus WE WERE NOW TRAVEL CENTERS catering to even the underage who chose to just hang out. I personally went to driving in 1992. However, I sugest wearing rubber tongs in the showers. As the preferred method of cleaning is taking the used towels left behind and wiping the toilet, then the sink then the shower, and if your really LUCKY the take a dirty mop and water they change maybe twice a shift and lay it across the floor and shower floor. Occasionally I have seen them dunk that dirty towel in that water and wipe the toilet seat and sink! Now would you eat at a table in the restaurant if it were cleaned that way?? I think not, but even the restaurants have gone done hill as well with the laxed sanitation they implement. I personally will not eat in these places which I used to proudly work for in the past. If you ever came in the 76 in Gurnee, Ill i was the red head back in the 80's . Then I moved to calif, Westley t/s on I5. the tyson chicken walk some may remember. The last few years I have been caring for my mother who had a stroke and needs 24/7 in home care. Currently she has been hospitalized and I am awaiting to see her if I will need to make the judgement call to bring her home with hospice, which I pray she will make a turn around, and this decision may be postponed for yet a while. Truly tho I wish you all a safe trip and many happy reunions with your loved ones. KEEP THE PEDDLE TO THE METAL AND THE COPS OFF YOUR ###., and remember please don't feed the BEARS.

TA has the most wonderful truck stops, great food, excellent employees, clean eat off the floor showers, and smooth parking lots..... NOT! I avoid the ta except to park there when i need to. But watch out, cause you can catch some kind of fungus and other horrible things in those dirty truck stop showers. What ever you do don't shower barefooted, or lay your tooth brush on the sink. But you can catch this FUNGUS or whatever it is just by going in there to shower.:yes2557:

the independents in TX were the worst I ever saw! I went to this one because I ran out of hours sitting at a dock I thought I would shower and shave. that thing was nasty I was in the military and never saw anything that bad. I called the texas health dept. they said they would send a form for me to file a complaint and never did.

This one is a hard one to answer on. I've seen some really nice upscale TA's but I've seen some pretty ###### one's too like the one in Montgomery, AL. (what a #### hole) This goes for other truck stop's alike. Some of the smaller "mom and pop" truck stop's have really nice shower's and the price as some has came out cheaper than the big chain's around between $5-7 dollars instead of $9.50 and up. Some I won't go back to because you'll die of old age before you get one.

My vote for absolute worst goes to Marston, MO Pilot. Generally the newer pilots and ones that have been remodled are ok but the one in marston must have been the orginal pilot. The showers look like they've been in service since the 1950's and look like that's the last time they were cleaned too.
