Needing an escort into a port because I don't have a TWIC card. It's one of the biggest scams going, pay the guy $50 to $75 to escort me and another 3 or 4 drivers. The guy cannot watch everyone at the same time in different areas, so it's all a scam, except for the money he makes a paid escort. 50 x 4 = a cool $200 bucks for riding his ### around in a car "watching" me and the other drivers.

I had an escort pick me up at the gate for $100. He took me to where I was loading and took off. I never saw him again. What a joke.

That's usually the biggest reason, the crap they put on the roads that doesn't get on it sitting in a lot somewhere. The other big reason, at least for the companies we haul for is visibility, they don't want people to see their stuff going down the road.

Just like lumber, I could care less if the lumber being used to build my house has been rained on but I don't want it covered in calcium chloride, magnesium chloride, salt or any of the other garbage they put on the roads. Has a tendency to rust the nails/screws apart that's used to hold the framing together and sheetrock on.

Had to tarp a load of pipe that's stored outside from Lakeland fl to Dallas tx cause of . . . Wait for it . . . Road salt. Had to tarp since it was a double blind load and customer thought it was coming from Pennsylvania.

Get right credentials and don't pay, or be glad that the facility offers "escorts".

I can't blame him. I'd lock my hardware up too.

In fact, I did when I hauled equipment. You learn who your good co-workers are when they can't steal from you. The rest grow to dislike you when they WANT to stick a knife in your back, but find they are unable to.
