Okay. I'm complicating it for you and didn't mean to.

Based on your assignment and the parameters he gave you then you would be correct.

just wondering are you accounting for time zone changes. And, I don't think WM does 1am appointments, I don't know because this is a school assignment if that is important, you can call the DC main line, hit zero for asset protection and ask for the guard shak... They can tell you in a minute. Often times just because you want to deliver at a certain time, doesn't mean the DC does receivings. (I am a shipper, but those are the two things that drivers seem to miss, and create challenges)

It's been a long time since I've done OTR and even then is was under permit for over size and weight. But I would stop at night or like your 11 drive time and do all my fueling and checking fluids then do a post inspection so you know you're ready for the next day. When you're rested and ready to go don't go and do your per-trip then eat because you're going from on duty not driving to off duty then back to driving. I would just eat, pre-trip, and go.

thanks and no I didn't take into account the time zone because it was a class assignment I do know at least I think I know in the real world u account for the time zone change at the beginning of your trip so u leave a earlier based on the time zone you going too just like the deliver to wm there was no time given so I just went with it on the assignment

If you are doing this for a school project they will want you to go to the back of the map and find the distances between the two cites. I am using Copilot vers 9 and it gives the distance as 1404.9 and a time to drive of 26 hours and 56 minutes. So you should be there in 3 days. 5 days is too long for this trip and I would have to fail you on the project.

Co Pilot has a feature that allows you to put your points in and then hit demo and it while drive the route for you and advance the clock to tell you what time you will be where. It is my belief and others may disagree, that if you are wanting to be the best trucker you can be then you should get the best tools.

If you have a laptop you should have Co Pilot with some sort of GPS hooked to your laptop. You should have Eclipse Logbooks and Truck'n Pro 7. You also need a printer/scanner/fax. I use the HP 7520. I also have a Garmin 760LMT Dezl. And a cell phone with a blue parrot head set. A cobra 29 CB. As back up, I have a new set of Rand McNally Maps and a pencil and paper.

I am overly teched out but I am also a pilot and love flying IFR.

the back of my atlas motor carriers road atlas rand McNally 2014 does not have Elberton lavonia or Monroe Georgia in the back in the mileage directory it only has major cities so I don't see how yours does

Sorry about not reading all of the assignment.

If you use the maps and the mileage in the back of the map book, you find the nearest large city on your route and figure using the map scale, you add that distance. Same on the other end. In real life, we are all different. Driving 11 hours non stop was no problem for me. The half hour break that we take hurts me. I get sleepy when I stop for that long, so I hit a rest area.

One of the things that I found amusing was you plan on stopping at exit 74 off of I-70. There is a very large porn shop with naked dancing girls at that exit. One of the local candidates for our state house had a speech where he said his biggest fear as a father was having to drive by the place and have his daughters ask him what went on there.

Your plan is most likely correct but make sure you ask your teacher enough questions so that you understand it. Most of us estimate if we can get there and make a go or not go call. We stop when we need to stop. I rarely drive more then 8.5 hours a day so I never have to do the 34 hour restart. I use the laptop to find a stop to pull in. After you have been over the road a while you will know all the places. My jaw just about dropped the first time my co driver said that we could pull over at exit such and such because there was a trash can at the bottom of the ramp. He knew every inch of I-35. At the time, I was amazed. Now not so much.
