My point is still right. Straight truck experience does NOT translate to combination experience and I suspect it never will.

I guarantee if I tell any company I’ve had 2yrs experience with a straight truck tanker hauling hazmat I would be just fine ..js

It won't do me any good to inform you that I have seen that very tactic used more then once in my lifetime. So i won't push the issue. Either it will work or it won't. I'm betting it won't. I am curious though, just how in the heck did you get a Class A CDL? It is not worth replying too because im out of it. My right eye has started to twitch a bit!

    Really?

It won't be fine because it doesn't count.

Sorry I hire drivers, I know what counts and what doesn't and I am like 90% of the people out there hiring drivers, straight truck work doesn't count for combination work.

And remember, it's the insurance companies that dictate what experience is needed by setting rates too high for drivers that don't meet the requirements.

You might have experience in hazmat and straight truck which is good for you. When it comes to the insurance companies that is a whole set of rules, unless the company is self insured, even then ife .

What you are saying is as it applies correct. However I would be almost willing to say a huge section of the top 50 carriers in the US are self insured and only use an insurance company to administer the policy because of State laws. Self insurance is a huge and very complicated thing way out of the scope of these boards. These carriers for the most part have set policies in place. They have to stay in compliance with a host of regulatory agencies both Federal and State. The largest reason most carriers wont accept non combination experience is the awesome liability they operate under. This is complicated and there is no one size fits all answers.

    ZVar Thanks this.

You may be better off to just suck it up and get a job driving a combination, cdl A vehicle in order to get enough experience to go where you want. Stop trying to find a shortcut and just do it.
