Weight has nothing to do with class a and class b.

Some of our trucks are over 100k. You still only need a class b to drive them...

    Still a class b truck.

In that instance the "B" is for Behemoth.

Weight has everything to do with the difference in class A and B. It only applies to the trailer though, not the power unit.

    Blackshack46 Thanks this.

Actually size and weight of the trailer allowed IS the difference. There is nothing else.

Totally correct, must have CDL A if pulling a trailer rated at over 10,000 pouns.
You can still pull that massive truck with a trailer rated at under 10k and still be legal for federal.

I guess I was just trying to simplify things since that scenario would rarely happen.

I wanna say a 60 meter pump clocks in at 150k. You need permits everywhere you go.
