If you physical'd and/or drug tested an/or had a background check done to get the job, I'd say yes because it may come up on a carrier's background check and they may ask what was the disposition of that job application, if not, I wouldn't mention it, you've been unemployed since whenever
Would it be Wise or Not?

Ive worked for a couple different companies (welding/fabbing) that I dont even say I worked for. I still have my own business (welding/repair/fabrication/machining) even though I dont have much work. Have had it for 11 years, So there is 10 years many companies want. I just put down the good places I worked and leave out the bad. When It comes to trucking my understanding is you cant really do that. But gaps are mostly gaps in the trucking world.

Yes very true, it's the gaps in the trucking world that can sometimes be an issue, once you have your cdl and are working driving a truck. Like if you worked for just say for examples sake, JB Hunt for 6 months and then didn't list that when you applied for a new job, that would cause an issue. That's why when you get a notarized letter for large gaps you are supposed to state something to the effect of, "I was not working in a D.O.T. regulated industry from such and such a date."

make it a habit if you drive a diff vehicle , you chk plate, permits, insurance etc....in reality, you shouldnt operate any vehicle if those items are missing or expired....i know that wasnt your question.....just a little friendly advice....

I wouldnt worry about a gap, I was unemployed for over a year and a half before I talked to a recruiter and got my cdl and a job, all they want is for you to explain the gap pretty much.

It might be a good idea to have a notarized letter, from a family member or friend, that you were taking care of your mom for those time period, then there is no question. I think the gap in work history comes from the idea that you might have been in jail.
