I hate to break it to you, but you were going too fast for conditions and you rolled the truck. You have absolutely no recourse.
Would not give Cypress Truck Lines the time of day

Sorry to hear this and regardless of fault company should have treated you a little better than that. Yes you will be terminated automatically by the insurance company but still no reason to treat you like a bum.
I had an accident years ago and the company I worked for sent a car to the hospital to pick me up and take me to the motel and then in the morning to the airport to fly me home. After they got my truck back to terminal they boxed and bagged all my stuff and locked it in the parts department until I was able to get there and pick it up. They actually did not want to terminate me but after 3 weeks fighting their insurance company they were issued an ultimatum. What I was told by the safety director was nothing on my dac and in the company file on me it states I am eligible for rehire. I was able to find a local job hauling powder making decent money within 2 months of the accident but only stayed doing that for a short time as I was offered a dispatching job at the company I was hauling powder to.
So do not give up there is a job out there might not be what you want but you are going to have to put your pride aside for a few years to clean up your past. Good Luck in your search.Lonesome Thanks this. -
Wow ....that sucks one accident and the driver gets slammed ....basically its about the insurance company throwing a fit because they have to come to carpet on a claim ,they like collecting premiums but they get real slimey when its time to annie up and it sounds like this company has a lack of integrity by the way they didnt just be up front and let the guy know where he stood on this ....your only deffense is the fact that this happened during adverse road conditions and you did the right thing by avoiding traffic ,choosing to lay it down in the median rather than possibly rolling it on top of a car with babies in it or something horrible like that .....your problem is going be insurance companies holding this over your head ....but keep trying to get on with a operator or something like a LTL company that will work you on the dock ,you might have to drive a forklift for awhile or a yd dog

I have to chime in here, I agree the lack of information from Cypress after the wreck is a bit frustrating, not knowing whether or not you're still employed, but you don't just slide off the highway at a slow speed and roll the truck. The unfortunate truth is you were traveling too fast for the conditions, yes the load stayed in tact, but it has to be cut away to look out for the safety of the tow company when recovering the wreck. Both parties, you and Cypress have a discrepancy in this situation but let's be honest none of this would have happened if you were operating safely given the conditions of the road.
Companies like Cypress probably have a no tolerance policy for rollovers, you know why they have cameras in their trucks and operate on e-logs? Because their safety rating was in the tank, and rollovers do not help the cause and are grounds for immediate termination. I was employed with Pritchett Trucking, if you had a rear end incident, no matter how minor, you were fired immediately. Companies like Cypress are basically on probation with DOT and a rollover does not help their cause. -
Not the case with Cypress.
They currently have a very good safety record, and always have.
Are we getting the complete story ??
-
I could be wrong, I was under the assumption that a previous questionable safety rating was the reason for the elogs and onboard cameras, either way I don't think there are too many companies that are lenient to rollovers.

One more thing id like to add for your deffense is your additude when presenting this story ...YOU NEED TO OWN IT
sure it sucks but it will be way better than acting like a victom of circumstance or that you are innocent .....this shows that you a man ready to be held accountable for you're decisions and you made the best choice at the moment.....OWN IT and you will respected for doing so....truth always prevails ,sometimes it hurts but atleast you will be free from trying hide behind excuses and you can hold head up and walk in the light of day looking at every man in the eyes knowing you are a man of valore and a solid handshake and best of all ...NOTHING TO HIDE ...I AM WHO I SAY I AM
......good luck yd dog and bless ya brother!!!!!Last edited: Mar 29, 2014

Another option might be going up to the Dakotas & try finding a job in the fracking industry, I hear that they are desperate & pay 85k+ because the work is hard, the job sux & it's very cold in the winter. I was also told in truck driver's school (yes I'm a newbie) that if you get into an accident, you're screwed, you're looking for another job & good luck finding one in the trucking industry. Sometimes it seems like God is teasing us/trying us in a way we can't understand. You couldn't help the snow/ice & you did your best, but according to Cypress it wasn't good enough. Blessings buddy!

look at things this way-cypress hired you to begin with so someone else will. cypress always runs an ad so they prob have plenty of turnover.you will land another driving job but it will take some leg work.
on a side note, most cypress trucks i see and pass, are pete's with the single breather mounted on the passenger side.i always expect to see those trucks leaning to that one side since they are unevenly set up.actually i pass every cypress truck i run up on but the ones that stand out are the weird looking pete's.some have the straight stacks.why waste a truck like that but not allow it to run but 65 or less?straight stacks and a single tank and one external breather running 65. yeah.
ok.got off topic thinking about the type companies that run that stuff out there.heck, you'll land another job and may even get to drive more of a truck. -
Are you serious?? A air breather making a truck lean? Buy your logic a fat driver would tip a truck. For your sake I hope you were attempting to be funny.
