Would this be an annoying dock?

    Hi,

We are relocating to a new warehouse and I wanted to get opinions if these docks would be annoying to back into? (Picture attached) It is very difficult to find perfect dock space in the area.

Typical truck would be sleeper cab + 53' trailer.

The yellow arrow is the natural direction of travel coming in from the entrance. Dock #1 would be the primary. Another question I have is do you think a truck would be able to back in to Dock 1 if there was already a truck at dock 2? And the opposite situation - could a truck get into dock 2 with a truck already at dock 1?

In this google maps image, it looks like dock 2 has a sleeper cab + 53' trailer for reference.

    Thanks for the help!

Not a problem at all. I'd ask the dude with the white car to find a different place to park, but, no, not a problem. The one on the far left would be tricky, so if you're going to block one off, that's the one you need too.

I’d flip around and blind side back into that dock if someone was already there. A lot of guys wouldn’t think to do that, or they were told to “never blindside, ever!” In my opinion both docks could be used at all times, some drivers might have issues with that.

Only people that might have problems with this are going to be folks who didn't get much backing practice while in training.

When I ran linehaul LTL, I blindsided frequently, 53’s with a daycab. Sometimes I would do just for the challenge.

Wouldnt be my favorite to back into 1 if 2 was occupied, but even as a flatbedder it wouldnt be that big of an issue.

Caveat, is that a street with traffic, or is that all on your own site, with impatient traffic trying to pass, it may become much more aggravating

If you're referring to the one with the shorter box truck, that is just a drive-in door so wouldn't be used for larger trucks. Thanks!
