We do some of that... different shipper. It's truckload, one stop, receiver unload - usually under 1000 miles. 22 stops in the northeast? Not a freakin' chance!

Well... yah, it's cheap. I loaded out of Dallas yesterday morning myself, kind of glad I didn't see this one because I would have actually had to consider it. I usually pull a stepdeck and these van brokers are killing me !

Yup, I was sitting in San Antonio, trying to decide if I should run empty up to Dallas to get something out. Ended up taking something cheaper than I normally would out of Laredo. Marginally profitable and drops Friday 1 hour from home so all is not lost.

Hey Smith, Thanks for posting this thread. It gives a guy like me less and less incentive to want to go into this profession. Seems like things have gotten so cutthroat that these people offering such a load are growing bigger stones because they know they can. There's a LOT of hungry O/O's out there right now, and whoever took it at 5 g's just cost you and everyone else money in the big picture. As I frequent truck stops, I'm seeing more and more immigrants driving shiny new rigs. To these folks, this is the American dream, subsidized by uncle sam, of course, so they can afford to take this load, their expenses at home are covered. Careful, because I get a feeling this is the tip of the iceberg as mohammed tells hakim, and pretty much all the new truckers out there are soon going to be immigrants, because they're subsidized, leaving you and potentially me out in the cold, and not moving. I don't know much about the inner workings this industry, but what little I've learned leads me to believe that no matter what, it no longer matters how hard you work, there's always someone willing to cut your throat.

It's been that way as long as I can remember, no matter what business I've been involved in. Those who succeed are the innovators who think outside the box. Everyone else either starves, or takes a job working to make someone else successful.

Yeah it's competitive but it seems a lot of owners like to lean on tired old crutches for their own failings. Windsmith this is not a dig at you - you took that in stride, it is what it is....

No offense taken, I value your opinions and comments. I have to remember that I'm still learning this business... :)
