The only one I know for sure of is Florida,Where I live. But I believe Tennessee and Virginia have started also.there are several other states either starting off site programs or at least looking into it.Most states that are at least considering do off site programs are doing so because it releaves them of liability issues and lowers their expenditure overheads. I personally don't think it's right. Like PJ1979 said it's a conflict of interest. But then they didn't ask me did they?I mean who am I? But a lowly ole Tax payer(their payroll).I'm curious if anyone else's state is doing this.maybe it's not as wide spread as I had thought.
Would you do this?

My wife is about to start classes at FCCJ in Jax.So we can go team later this year. They will perform the official written and road tests with her when she completes the class. But, they only do those tests for their students and not for non-students.

Thats cool. Whats the tuition? I ask as Mid florida Tech is $2500.

Sorry, I'm not sure. My wife is handling it at home and I can't remember what she told me.But 2500 sounds about right. Honestly, I was so happy to find out that her student loan was covering it, that I really didn't care.I told her, Just geter-dun so we can get going and we can make some money, and I can get away from the company I'm at. They don't run teams.

My regrets on school are...none! I was always the type of person that doing is better than reading about how to do it..not that reading is a bad thing but, getting your HANDS DIRTY, is a much more rewarding experience. My career in trucking started by driving my step-fathers trucks around town and going from there to a regional company which gave me a weeks training with an experienced driver. When I had problems backing blindsided in the yard, they all came out laughed about it and gave me encouragement till I got it right. Overall when I look back at it the reason schools are in business is for those who dont have the access to a truck like in the other post where either a family member or a company willing to help you exist.

I know it has to do with laws and regulations and all that. But, it makes absolutely no since.I mean really, What's the difference between running roads in only one state as apposed to running roads in multiple states.Do they think the dangers and/or chances of mishap are diminished by operating in only one state?Good grief. This is a perfect example of some pencil pushing moron in office somewhere proposing that they know more about the transportation industry than those of us who are out here working it, Because they went to college and/or read something about it. Big freakin deal. All I can say to them is Guess what schmucks,I went to college too. So what! And after 20+ years in this business, I still learn things.
