No, if it keeps thieves and such out, and you and your customers safe. Just remember the length of the rigs being at 70' so you would have to allow maybe 80' and use of optics (electric eyes) to make sure there in the area before the gate closes. This also gives you a excellant place to obtain a video of the driver, truck, trailer and license plates with date coding if thats how your going to bill.
24 hours or any part of 24 hours by the hour, gives you a way to verify customer billing.

You have to consider the value of the loads and equipment, High End yes, anything less is insuficient. And you can charge for the security.

If you are talking about for the semi trucks that don't pay their bill and are parked still, if they have the hood that can be opened from the outside the OP could just get the same type of steering wheel lock mechanism that Marten Transport uses. I don't think he could get it on a Volvo since those hoods open from the inside. But he could put that "knuckle" lock (I think that is what Marten calls it) on and that truck ain't going anywhere but straight if someone does try to drive it away with it on. Obviously, if some pissed off fool did that, he would end up with bigger problems than just not being able to get his truck, just driving straight and hitting stuff trying to get out.
