As for the EOBR part of this conversation, I have ran paper logs for the last 7 years. Just this spring the company I am leased to went to EOBR and I was against it. It has now been 6 months and I like it. I have found that I actually save time each week as it records this in real time and not 15min increments. I like just flipping over to "fueling" and doing my job, clicking "unloading" and doing my job. It makes things easier and I don't push myself as hard as I did before. It's all right there and the DOT does not bother me with log book checks during my inspections now. It's nice

Those who think you can run like WE ALL DID years ago are mistaken ! You ever notice that little computer plug in ? some are beside the drivers seat others its just under the dash . One of our O/O got hit with a 10,000 $ fine ! N.C. DOT pluged up and his paperlogs did not match the emc's gps ! His thuck is an 96 model. They do not need the EOBR to stick it to you!

The only reason to want to not be on E logs is so that you can fudge your logs and run illegal or to cover up the occasional violation.

I like being a union OTR driver the pay and layovers are great the benefits are good too. And I use a paper log too.

To me the elogs are the way to go. No more cheating no more can you do this for me. At first I didn't know what I would do with 10 hours now I actually enjoy it. I don't think I'll have to ever buy a zebra 301 again.

So to update "Old School"....When the EOBR runs out of hours.....You fire up the another one right?

-
That is not the only reason many don't want to go on elogs. Some of us don't see a reason to spend money on something that is unnecessary. -
This is exactly right. The companies can afford to put these in the trucks as they get money from the government. Little owner ops on the other hand have to pay for this crap out of our pockets. They want to keep having all this crap done to the trucks they need to pay for it not the owner op.

I have been on them over six months, not as bad as i had feared ! Am
Not happy they are going to force them it! But it is coming! I am saying
Face it, start early and learn while they are not looking!!! Mistakes
Are going to happen in your learning curve! Start early when the risk
is lower! Went they are mandated it WILL call home and tell on you!
Make the mistakes before it gets its power!
