Heres the bottom line guys. And all you guys that wanna blow smoke about Im not going to do this and Im not going to do that. You do have a choice, whatever.Keep telling yourself that. You guys are the reason why this is being pushed. If your running legal as you should be,this is not an issue. It changes nothing. Its pretty obvious who the drivers are that arent running legal, and feel they are above the law, because thats the way we have always done it.Good luck to you, because in this day and age,its adapt or move on.Thats just the way it is.Im not any happier about it than you are.But Im smart enough to understand whats coming.Doesnt make me happy about it.It just makes it so.Its coming,so the sooner you accept it,the better off your gonna be.Just sayin.
Would you quit if forced on eLogs?

I sure will,I have no problem adapting,it is what it is.It changes nothing.

I'll say it. You better get use to it!

Those that are going to do something about it? Whatcha gonna do? Quit?
Trucking has always been changing along with everything else. You either adapt or flip burgers. The industry doesn't want outlaws anymore.
Not only do drivers have to adapt, companies have to adapt.
Just like everything in this crooked world, EOBR's are more than a Two trillion dollar market. If I was LaHoody, give me $10 million and I'll make them mandatory and retire. You ain't gonna stop me either.THBatMan8 Thanks this. -
Eh..I've had them for 3 years now. No big deal. In a way I actually like them because it has eliminated all that dispatcher "Hey do me a favor just this time garbage"...When the clock ticks down, it's time for a hotel room or to head for the barn. No more driving while tired BS because someone screwed up and forgot a customer. Now, I just tell our central dispatch "Poor planning on YOUR part does NOT constitute an emergency on MY part"..Plus with the EOBR it has eliminated all those "oops we forgot to put that on your weeks payroll-we will catch it next week crap"..It's all there in black and white. The companies created this situation over the years by requiring or allowing drivers to violate HOS. It's not the drivers fault, it's that wink and the nod attitude that companies are going to have to stop in their never ending quest for more free labor from the drivers.

Aside from an 8hr sleeper break that will stop it, how do you "manage" the 14 hour clock? It runs regardless and it puts you at the mercy of shippers/receivers. You can't deny that the 14 hour clock caused a lot of headaches that didn't exist under HOS type 1.rachi Thanks this.

i dont see it as much of a problem like you said for local drivers, but its a bit differant for us OTR guys to have a computer say "oh im sry that traffic slowed you down 5 minutes but you have to park now....not at the truck stop 5 minutes up the road" thats not for the gov or some computer to decide

If your running legal it changes nothing.Your 14 hr. clock starts at the same time whether your on paper or electronic. Its the same.Your just going to have to be better at trip planning.Thats it.THBatMan8 Thanks this.

I run 6 western and it has still worked for me. You just have to plan and allow for changes, road destruction (and yes I spelled that properly-I hate CalTrans) and figure out where you are going to end up. So far, not much of a hassle..But, hauling tankers I can unload anytime and am not at the mercy of some moron on a dock on a power trip.
