I never stated that. And just because it can be done doesn't mean that I've done it.

    Remember this?

That isn't what I was suggesting. If you have ever been in New England, or on a US-Route then you know that almost every truck stop will be full, and truck services are few and far between. You have no choice in these circumstances but to keep driving as it's illegal to park on the side of the road for non-emergency reasons in most states (running out of hours doesn't count as a emergency). Not only that, but many states on the east coast also make overnight parking at rest areas illegal.
    *cough*Virgina*cough*

Lets look at reality folks. If you're a real trucker then you should know where I'm comming from.

I was talking about the 16 hour extension. Read my first post in that thread since you like to gravedig. Also, that is completely irrelevant to this thread. If your intentions are to bash me, then see your way out of this thread.

    I have.

The reason I posted this, is that you are busting him for up to the last minute, but yet you will do it and claim something that is not legal to drive another 2 hours.

Just send a message to dieselbear and see what the truth is on this. Maybe, you should review his posts, since he recently addressed this again while you were on vacation.

What I was referring to in that thread is different than this one. I was a short haul driver for most of my career, so I could use the two hour extension at will. And that 2 hour extension is only good for your 14 hour clock. It does not extend the 11 or 70 hour clocks.

There is a 2 hour extension you can use on the 11 hour clock as a OTR driver, but waiting till the last minute to park doesn't qualify you to use it. And I didn't call a particular member a idiot. I said "If you wait till the last minute to park, then you're a idiot" to imply I was generally speaking. Enough of the childish bickering please.

    Either way.

EOBR changes the way you have to operate as far as the driving and the parking.

Some companies have NO TOLERANCE on moving the truck while on break or after 14 hour expires.

You like them, so they will not bother you.

I do not need a EOBR to keep me legal.

If you're on a break, you don't have a reason to move the truck. If you have to move it from one side of the parking lot to another side, you can flag a on-duty not driving status on line 2 for the duration it took you to move. One situation where you would need to do this is when doing a swap.

Some companies monitor every bit of movement and force a restart of the break.

Other companies might let you take the truck on a personal conveyence trip. Others, log as driving and violates the rules.

Either way, there are bugs to be worked out and I really do not expect them to be 100% mandated.

That's where you should do your homework before driving for a company. Don't drive for one that makes up their own FMCSR's. If I can't do on a elog what I can do on paper then I wont waste my time with the company. If the elog gives me a violation for some stupid reason, a quick call to the companies log department usually removes it.

    Example:

I got a layover from the bat caves in Kansas City for a day and I drove to the Petro on I-70, which is 55 miles away. Company policy limits off duty driving to 45 minutes a day, but it took me 55 minutes to drive to Petro, and I got a log violation as I was out of hours. I called the company and they changed my logs to indicate off duty driving, which is where it should have been to begin with.

No guarantee that this will be allowed in the future after they get more involved in the results. FMCSA will have final say.
