No sorry I was active and under orders. Even thou it was a rental tractor the trailer was Navy. Besides all that I called the command before I did anything. The Navy MOS is Navy Seabee Heavy Equipment Operator. Trucks were just part of the fun.

I agree steeling is steeling. But it seems a lot of people have just jumped right out of the gate and assumed it was steeling without having the full story. I really don't know which is worse. -
Basing that off OP.
Guy said he was pissed and needed money. Doesn't sound like someone trying to remedy a problem.
I believe the saying is if it quacks it's probably a duck, not a goose trying to drop some feathers

What other half is there? The driver was trying to sell fuel that wasn't his. That's theft. Not only that, you caught the mofo red handed. Theft is never justified. You don't fight fire with fire. I don't care if you're starving. Starving doesn't give you the right to steal food off my plate.
That being said, if a driver were to come up to me and ask for a couple of dollars, then I'd give it to him/her no questions asked. I know what it's like to be broke, so I don't mind helping out random strangers. BUT, I will not participate in theft. -
Or we could just call it "Trickle Down Economics"
THBatMan8 Thanks this. -
I wish someone had called me before my driver sold $3000 of fuel. He probably only made a couple of hundred, and here I am putting the truck in the shop to try to figure out why the mileage is so poor all of the sudden. I trusted the guy and treated him like gold. Then he up and quit because he knew he was about to get caught. Mileage instantly went back up. I would have given him some money if there was such an emergency, but he was just a greedy thief. These fuel sellers are scum

I don't follow the logic. If he was selling fuel out from under whoever was purchasing it to begin with, there's no justification for it.
Exactly.
No. And I'm not being judgmental by saying so. You may have sympathy towards what drove him to do it, but by no means does it right a wrong.
I've seen plenty of people who work with very little credibility. If they are okay with stealing, then they are okay with things like lying, and it's still pretty easy to BS your way into a seat these days. The system still ain't perfect.
I know I'm repeating what has been said in this thread so far, but I wanted to chime in as well.
Every opportunity.
I'm glad the general consensus is against the act discussed. Personally, I would have turned him in despite that "snitches get stitches" mentality I saw crop up a couple of times here.
You see, we all pay for stealing one way or another. Prices at the stores are calculated on the cost of shoplifting. I had my home ransacked many years ago, and even though I had insurance - it didn't recoup what I had invested in the stuff I lost. I don't give a rat's rear-end how "down on their luck" the perp was. I worked for, and paid for what I owned.
Stopped at a Hess station in NJ a long time ago, and got BS'in with the fuel attendant chick and she forgot to take the money. $300 total. I was 25 miles up the road when I reached in my wallet and realized the cash was still there. Turned around and brought it back to her, and she thanked me, as it would have came out of her paycheck. Prolly would have worked all week to pay for that "free" fuel.
But, regardless, if the circumstances are correct, this lowlife is stealing money from the very person who gives him a way to earn a living. What a kick in the balls.
So yeah, maybe a call to his boss to let them know what he's up to would have been well in order.
Yes they are. I hope you don't doubt the actions of any future drivers by the actions of one bad apple.Mommas_money_maker Thanks this. -
I agree with you on all points on this one smooth shifter. If it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck it must be a duck

i wouldnt report him.
