Would you roll with a headlight out?

I don't think anyone bothers us anymore.

I've seen a few trucks roll though cajon with one headlight. Speaker speaks out and tell them to go to the truckstop and get it change. They just keep on rolling.

I've also seen a few roll through Utah scales and not one cop bothered me when my light was out for a couple of weeks. I had a wiring issue though.

Walmart carries lots of headlight bulbs, but Kenworth likes to have unique stuff, so who knows. Most people don’t know that most of the items you buy at a truck stop are available at Walmart, and much cheaper too. That includes antigel, oil, coolant, grease, and many more.

Great. Now if Walmart would let us park our trucks there we might save a few bucks.

Yeah, every year more and more Walmarts are prohibiting truck parking. I always check on Trucker Path to make sure I can park there or at least on the street.

If drivers didn't see their lot as a personal truckstop and garbage dump in the past we likely could...

To be fair it's typically the town or property owner that has a beef with trucks.

I am glad you made mention of this. I stock up at Walmart because it's so much cheaper. Those bulbs are just a few dollars. For the price of one at the truck stop you could get 3 at walmart. Most people say, "My company reimburses me." I never understand that logic. Why spend more at that moment when you don't have to?

Because it's a whole lot more effort for no reward. You fuel at the truck stop, park and done. But for Walmart you have to find one you can even get into, make sure you can stay for 5 minutes without the cops getting called, walk in from the back of the lot, find it and check out, then find the truck stop because you ain't staying at Walmart.

Not to mention the time spent driving not making any money to save your boss a buck.

Not only does it not benefit me, it actually is a negative for me. As you are driving to go get parts for the truck, you have to eat your drive time. Heck, some could argue the time spent shopping should be on-duty.

So now I have less hours to make money just to save the boss a few dollars, when he would not spend a few dollars on repairs as it's not a DOT issue, so doesn't need to be fixed....

If you were there shopping for yourself sure, but how often does that happen when a bulb goes out. And heaven forbid you want to buy a couple before they go out and have on hand for when you are in the middle of nowhere and one goes out....

Nope, in most places the boss treats me like a cog, so I'll act like one. Heck, if it did not benefit me I.e. I want to get rolling, I would not even change the light. Make roadside do it.

Now if I every heard of this mythical company that treated employees like humans it might be different. The best I found is they treat us like adults. Give us a task, we do it it, but they still refuse to fix anything that is not DOT related on the truck....
