You are almost 1000 lbs under gross. Nobody at a scale house outside of a trainee looking to make a name for himself will give you trouble.

What are your fuel tanks at? What is your steer axle rated for (many modern axle back trucks are rated up to 13,000 lbs)? Do you have an APU? Does your fifth wheel slide? There are many solutions to this problem, and 400 lbs over on any axle group isn't going to break the bank even if you do find the one trainee in the coop.

If you have a sliding fifth wheel you could slide your fifth wheel back one notch and probably take some of that weight off of your steers although you're not terribly over weight on your steers and most places have some kind of Tolerance.

I have J rated tires on my auto transport so I'm well over that most of the time. I'm usually closer to 14000.

There's probably a greater tolerance for your tandems than there is for your steers and so I would go with trying to move your fifth wheel back one notch.

Having said that I doubt that anyone is going to bother you for that 400 lb but I'd still rather be a little overweight on my drives then on my steers.

Run that ####. If you're worried about the steers, just look at the axle weight restriction for the states you're going through. I can't think of any that are 12k or less. Nobody will be looking at your tire or axle rating at the coop unless you're waaay over... then:

People need to get this 12k out of their head. Find out what your steers are rated on your truck and you can haul that in most states. Check your Atlas for the states you're going through. Your rating usually right inside drivers door. You can also check the tires too.

Yeah, you need to do something about that steering axle... Perhaps if you got out and ran alongside the truck it would help get that down...

Please forgive my lack of understanding. I don't see anything on that Citation about weight? That Citation is for running by the scale without stopping. What did I miss?

I like this. Get out of the truck. Step off the scale. Weight goes down to 11,950 ... no problem. :)
