Would you use this damaged filter on your engine?

This filter cost me $90 at an online parts place. I thought they were a reputable company with quality parts and quality control and all that. I “saved” I think $3 buying it online. I had to buy an undamaged one anyway

When will I learn to not use online stores for expensive parts that are vital to the health of my engine.

I have sent pictures to them for a refund but it’s been 24 hours and they haven’t bothered yet.

    When will I learn?

The office gets those for about 30 bucks. So I wouldn’t pay 90 for it. However, I would not hesitate using that filter. It will do the job fine.

They are not getting that filter for $30. The filter has 2 tears in it. What’s the point of all the nano net stuff if it’s ok to use it with tears?

    Siinman Thanks this.

10-4 I didn’t see the tears. Just looked like the media was squished. My eyes are getting older.

I wouldn't use it if it's torn either. Quick search on Amazon 35 bucks

    Amazon.com : fleetguard fs19915 fuel water separator
Genuine Fleetguard - $51 and free shipping. $32 ea. with free shipping over $35, so order 2.
    Your welcome.
The one for $31.89 says Made In China and does not say Fleetguard but has FS19915 so it is a fake. The one for $51 looks legit.

The ones we get say fleet guard , but we buy multiple cases at a time. Same with lube, fuel, and reefer filters. A little cheaper that way. Unfortunately the savings on buying a drum of oil is negligible.

No , I would not use it. Injectors and fuel pumps are expensive……both to diagnose and to replace.

Local dealers, even Cummins distributors should get you that filter for less than 90 bucks, and undamaged at that.
