Not every state accepts APU exemptions for overweight, like California for instance.flood Thanks this.

He’s not getting it and probably won’t. Dragging a box is a whole lot different then a deck. I like my apu, I’d also trade it tomorrow for a 36” tarp box in its place.D.Tibbitt Thanks this.

Bump the idle to ~850 for ac when needed, one nice thing with the upper KW windows is they have screens, idle the truck a half hour before falling asleep to charge the batteries and if I can get by comfortably with a fan I do. I will say one of my favorite things I’ve done to any vehicle i have owned is my espar bunk heater, can be single digits and you can be comfortable in your underwear in the bunk, much colder then that and I’m idling anyways so it doesn’t gel up
apus still burn a decent amount of fuel when on ac, I can do an inframe for the cost of an apu, which will be junk by the time I break even saving a quarter of a gallon of fuel an hour -
Whaaat? Jeez I don’t even know how anyone can be this dumbflood Thanks this.

When you're in the southern heat. It's not uncommon to idle 24 hours when you got no place to go. 7 days though I think I'd be looking for a new company.
-
I understand that, I drive to the south often. Before I got my APU I never and I repeat NEVER spent anywhere near 3-4k every month of idling. And never has idling caused 3-4k worth of break downsflood Thanks this.

Idling is hard on dpf. The one i had replaced. A few years back. Was $6g. At that time.
-
Yeah idling kills these emissions trucks and most mega companies have these trucks running on a turned down eco tune ,low rpm cruising, timed acceleration, 60mph , can't do manual regens so the dpf gets plugged every 200k-250k miles or less ..
The emissions systems (selective catalyst reduction system) are getting more reliable each year though . let's see what comes out next to ruin itLast edited: Sep 20, 2020

Interesting. My 2018 Volvo is at 459k miles and I haven’t had to clean the dpf, and I idled a lot. I believe my percentage was around 38% before I got the APU.
