I imagine it also depends what kinda speeding. if they see you managed to do detroit to laredo in the span of almost 18 hours and get nailed by a dot on the i-30 in arkansas you're probably going to have some explaining to do to account for an average speed of more then 85mph

Back in ole good paper log time i was busted by trooper for 6 hours drive distance made in 4 hours.
He gave me to choose HOS or SPEEDING. I choose HOS it was cheaper

 

And a "missing" log book used to be cheaper than a HOS violation.
