Just heard on the NASCAR channel they now have refrigerator and I think apu or inverters. Plus satellite TV.
Plus they pay for HME loads.
Wow. For a starter company. Plus a mostly Paccar fleet.
Interesting.
Wow Trans am

Auxiliary Power Unit Already Installed All tractors come equipped with an Auxiliary Power Unit ("APU") which eliminates the need for idling and consumes only a fraction of fuel compared to a running engine. The APU provides heating and cooling comfort and shore power for the driver.
Free DIRECTV!
TransAm is excited to announce that we are installing DIRECTV in our trucks at no charge to our drivers! The package includes a 24" flat screen tv, DVR and access to more than 100 channels including the NFL Sunday Ticket and HBO. We are always on the lookout for ideas to improve the quality of our driver's lives on the road and we hope this service is a great benefit for our drivers.stacks and BostonTanker Thank this. -
Friend of mine worked there for 2 years and loves the company. They only reason he left is his wife pressured him to get a local job. He wasn't too happy about that either. He was an experienced driver, several years, when he went to TransAm.

Interesting.
I like my fleet manager here. However with soft freight I'm finding myself sitting way too much at docks. And they don't pay extra for HME loads.
Plus no apu.
I don't want to jump ship, but if they have all that, and are paying decent, and more for hm loads, something to ponder.
I started with Werner in June 15.
Solo status started in September.
If I'm gonna sit, I may as well have the extra goodiesProf.Gringo and Chinatown Thank this. -
Just stay away from the lease truck no matter what kind of money they say you can make!!!
A_C_Cooper and BostonTanker Thank this. -
They have had refrigerators and APUs for several years. For example, Miller Transporters purchased quite a few former Trans Am T600s or T660s for their future contractors a little over a year ago. Those trucks were 2012 (I think). Had refrigerators and Thermo King apu.

Lol any company I'd lease on to has to pay a minimum of 2.50 a mile.rabbiporkchop Thanks this.

Just goes to show how much money there really is in freight. Drivers, at least good ones, aren't quite a dime a dozen anymore, so companies are getting better at keeping them. I think some shippers are even looking at retention rates when it comes to who they are going to give their freight to. That's just a theory, as money talks and bs drives for CRE.

Give me the APU but you can keep the tv. I want to be kept busy and make money not watch tv. I have a tablet for that.
