"2 additional hours beyond the maximum time allowed"

Maximum driving time allowed under 395.3 is 11 hours. 11+2= 13. Simple math really. As I told another poster we can agree to disagree.

This is from the FMCSA's "Interstate Truck Drivers Guide to Hours of Service". Published by the FMCSA......."Even though you may drive 2 extra hours under this exception, you must not drive after the 14th consecutive hour after coming on duty, and you must comply with the minimum 30-minute rest break provisions."

yes, you're right. I've always dealt with the extension in grocery delivery when having weekends off.

Having no violations the previous cycle is also a requirement.

Have you seen how many trucks are stuck on that hwy?
Enough to fill the next truck stop 10 times over. Many of those guys will struggle to find any place to go and will end up on the side of the road.

You should watch the video and in case you don't get it still, imagine this happened at 1pm, you started driving at 4am. If you did not have to fuel or go to the bathroom and the only time off you took was the forced 30 minutes, you have til 2:30pm max to find a place. The looks of this they have been stopped for over one hour, the next truck stop or rest area is at least 1 hour away. And assume your truck is in the middle of this mess or towards the end. you won't have a place at the next truck stop or rest area.
You are an XXXXXX for thinking it is all in the planning, Some peop have no common sense, should get out of your car and go drive for a week in a truck...you might gain some appreciation for all truckers go through

I thought it was still very minimal, something like 2 hours max. From the look of the trucks on this hwy and depending on when they re-open many of these guys won't have a place to park for hours ..

Really bad situation! especially for those in the back of the line
