Looking to sell our house in IA and move somewhere around there ourselves. TN that is. Not sure where would be worse to live. KS or PA. I don't mind driving thru KS but that's about it. Can't stand driving in PA. I suspect the economy is much better in PA than it is in KS tho.

I've been with a company for eight years now based in that area and I've grown to really like that portion of Tennessee between Nashville and Knoxville. The mountains are scenic but down in the elevation where they don't get an excessive amount of snow. And not far enough south to have the long humid summers like down here in Georgia.Mattnatti Thanks this.

You are right, I wheel my Land Cruiser in that area a couple times a year. About half way between in a little town called Sparta. Beautiful part of the country. Golden mountain park.MUSTANGGT Thanks this. -
Exactly, and if you continue south you will find that long downhill grade with the waterfalls over the rocks as you descend into Dunlap.
And north to the Kentucky line is the beautiful Dale Hollow Lake area. -
You hit one of our criteria on the head. We want to get away from the brutal winters but still have the change of seasons but NOT the high humidity.

Guys I live not far from that part of TN and drive thru it all the time. Sorry to p in your cheerios but you are not going to escape hot, sticky, humid summers around here it's just as bad as GA.

Don't believe everything you read or hear especially in the tucking industry.I'm noticing more and more companies will say just about anything that sounds good just so they get the drivers.I'm not saying it isn't possible but I am saying its remotely possible.Too many thngs that would prevent you making that much. The laws, breakdowns, sitting. But you may make some real good paychecks just not no 80 k a yr.

Maybe so rollin coal, but I've spent enough nights around Cookeville/Crossville/Sparta to know you at least get a break at night compared to where I live at 100 feet above sea level. I can turn off the truck and let the windows down without the skeeters trying to tote me off.

Patty, our trainers at Averitt make 80k if they keep a student all year and get home every weekend. It all depends if one is willing to do what they do to earn it. I'm just too set in my ways to share a truck and don't need the money that bad.
