My buddy and I are wondering what the insurance
Companies do with the cargo in a messed up or wrecked trailer.
Does any one know of any auction web site?
Wrecked/ salvage/ cargo question.

Depends on the cargo. Some gets desposed of, some is auctioned to special markets where salvagers will bid on the load and sort through it for anything still good which is then sold at resale markets or secondary markets. Some goes on sites like ebay. Some is donated to charity as a tax write off and so on.
There is no one size fits all answer to this one as it depends on product, type of wreck, outside conditions (electronics dumped into rain likely wont be good) how badly damaged everything is and who owns it. Some cargos the shipper wants destroyed regardless of how little damage for safety, reputation or liability reasons. Some would be illegal to resell. And some just wouldnt be worth the trouble.Rideandrepair, Dino soar, ibcalm19 and 1 other person Thank this. -

Pallet sales is where most of the decent stuff goes. Back 15 or so years ago I was doing Ebay as a side gig and would get a few pallets of Camcorders and always killed it. No idea who sales them these days but used to be able to look it up on internet with enough research. I only sold electronics and started with Cellphones of all things. There Razor flip phones was gold mines for me! Almost quite my 75K job to open my own store and probably should had done it. Was clearing 15-20K a month working 5-6 hours a day packing and answering questions.

Friend of mine buys the pallet returns at a biz that buys them by the trailer load and sells them one pallet at a time
and he’s making good money , doing it one day a week as a side gigKeepforgettingmypassword Thanks this. -
We have a local shop here that buys Amazon returns by the pallet. Don't know what on it until the freight truck drops it on the dock. The lady that runs it says about half goes to the dump. She makes her money on the rest. I didn't find anything i needed or would pay for.

Depends what it is. Usually just goes to the landfill. Sometimes they let us do whatever we want with it so we will donate or sell it depending on what it is. But usually it is just such a mess and a PIA to deal with or sort that it just all gets thrown in rolloffs and off to the landfill it goes. If it is mostly intact it usually gets transloaded to another trailer and then we just dispose of the damaged product.
