Maybe you can get a somewhat a little fiction and non fiction to your story if you WATCH these 3 movies, 1) Convoy, 2) Duel, and 3)Smokey and the Bandit(first one). These movies where made in the time era I believe your looking at.

Edit: 4) White line fever,... is another one.

I loved Smokey and the Bandit and got halfway through Duel before getting a bit worn out, but yes the period detail in that one was wild. Flared business suits. Pay phones in laundromats. I will check out Convoy. Thank you.

wasn't a driver in the 70's ,but hitch hiked from NY,(not city), to Wyoming after I got back from Nam. hitched all over the US and Canada, working construction or whatever.

became a driver 10 yrs afterwards. after flunking out of college, figuring out middle management and office politics was going to get me thrown in jail. didn't play well others.lol

It sounds like you’ve got some interesting stories to tell. I have not been very good at school or office work either and am able to survive on freelance work in NYC, thank goodness. Sounds like you enjoyed your time driving?

If you want input. Just go to a truckstop. Sit and the lunch counter for a couple hours. Then there will be nothing you will not know.
