Driver's time for delivery begins as soon as check-in starts. Wrong P/U# from dispatch or on rate con is not the driver's mistake or problem except for waiting longer and making a few phone calls. That is a logistics issue and we're not in the logistics business. Keep track of your time and make sure everything is on Qualcomm or send a text message to dispatch as soon as you arrive for proof of arrival time. 4 hours after the time stamp on that text message is when you start texting about detention pay, or however long after that company policy dictates.
90% of the broker loads I am dispatched on either have wrong load number or don't have the PU number the shipper is looking for. Even when I call to confirm the load and specifically ask if there are any other numbers or info I need and the answer is no. I just accept that brokers are incompetent and move on with my life.
I had someone send me a load once, pick up in Scranton PA at 9am, deliver in Carteret NJ at 11:00 am, Philadelphia PA at 13:00, and Gordonsville VA Walmart T 1800. Obviously that didn't happen and despite being told the WM was being rescheduled... It never happened. I got that about 14 hrs late, on Saturday. Dispatch said they rescheduled it for Monday. The guards gave me a guys number and told me to call him at 1400... I called and by 1530 I was unloaded and on my way. It is definitely out of the norm... But they will sometimes work with you if you approach them right.
