I think it depends on the company. I mis-pulled a couple years ago and learned my lesson. One thing we can do here is check seal numbers since it's right on the bill pack. I haven't left a yard since then without double checking.

lol,so he thought he was heading to Portland,OR?lol. So how far did he get before his dispatcher calls him?

That happened to us, our first trip out after being up all day with the last day of orientation, was a "emergency" run to Cactus Texas, gotta go now! well, we drove through the night, got there went and hooked up the trailer, went to check out at the guard shack and discovered we had the wrong trailer! We were both so dead tired that we transposed the numbers. Fortunately, it was caught before we left the yard! LOL Now, it's always double check the trailer and load!

I've done similar, kept my job.
The night guys are supposed to get our tank trailers that fill up during the day ready and sealed for morning pickup by a transfer driver to go to the plant. I got there at 5 am and the transfer driver already had the trailer hooked up and out in front of the shop ready to leave.
He was moaning about none of the trailers being ready, so I went out and sealed the trailer assuming it was the correct one supposed to leave since he was already hooked up (the transfer drivers know only full trailers leave). It was dark outside, so I didn't actually look in the trailer to verify it was full.
Sure enough, later when he got it to the plant it was an empty, and of course, "this is the one he sealed and had ready" other guy says.
I told them how it went down, and they pretty much just overlooked the mistakes on both of our parts.
I do, however, actually check them now.mje Thanks this. -
See Roy everyone has made that mistake.I cant ever remember picking up the wrong trl but have went out of route many times, lol.

just got the right load. the driver that had it said i wouldn't have seen the right trailer unless i was looking hard because it was buried behind other trailers and where i grabbed the one i had from is where they normally put the loaded ones. he was a owner operator and a really good guy. i guess i can get some sleep now. he said not to worry too. thanks guys you sure put my mind at ease.
mje Thanks this. -

I was pulling a dozer from Iowa to Victoria,Tx...oversized. Got loaded, got the BOL, printed out my permits and hit the road. I was almost in Arkansas when my dispatcher called me and told me that they shipped the wrong machine and to take it back. VIN number, model number...everythings correct. But its the wrong machine for the customer. "You have got to be kidding..."
Yes, it happens. Hate when it happens to me.mje Thanks this.
