So how far out of route you go or were you lucky going in the right direction? It's either a ~$240 or $0. That happens I guess because I heard other stories. Any body can mess up including dispatchers. Always double check, look at that seal and trailer #. You don't know if someone broke in it and next thing you know you are getting charged with it. CYA. Luckily, I've caught a few mistakes before. They do happen. I've even had the wrong load on the right trailer and I only caught it because it had drops I crawled up in there to make sure the drops were in the right order. I've been dispatched with 2 other drivers on the same load before. I won!
The closest I come to your deal was on a cross country trip. I woke up and was enjoying my coffee going down the interstate. About 15 miles later I realized the exit signs looked awfully familiar and the sun was behind me instead of in front of me. Doh!
wrong load

Had one where another company driver grabbed my load, minutes before I got there, he pick up numbers were off two digits, mine was 87, his was 78. Ended up both loads going to same place, same day, with an hour difference in appt times. He was calling his fm trying to see what to do, I just let my fm know what happened and left. Told the other driver, let them figure out the paperwork on their end, nothing we can do about that. He stayed back waiting, eventually caught up with me when I stopped for 10.

Had to report my situation a few years ago.
Went and picked up a frozen load at a place that doesn't allow drivers on the dock. Got loaded, got my BOL, and then headed out. About ten miles down the road, I'm looking at my BOL, and realize that the BOL doesn't match the city I'm going to. I call dispatch and the customer. Turns out, the customer loaded the wrong product on my trailer, but had the right PO/BOL#, but in their system had the wrong city/customer listed. The other load was to pick up later that night. I ran out of hours sitting for the customer/dispatcher to figure out how to fix it.
So, I waited at the truck stop down the road for the other driver to show up, and pick up the other load. We then traded paperwork and trailers at the truck stop after he made his pick up, and everything was basically fine. I never looked at the city, just the PO#. But, the PO# matched, so I didn't question it. Now i always look at the customer/city even if PO#s match. -
This not a trucker story but does involve the movement of cargo...when I was in the Air force I was deployed to Bermuda and an aircraft required an engine change . We called back home and they made arrangements to have one flown into us. The engines are in a big steel sealed container. When it arrived, we checked the paperwork and it was a busted engine that had been sent for overhaul and never completed. We called back home and explained to them what happened and they arranged another flight to bring a second engine. It arrived a couple of days later. When we opened the container....it was empty ! So a third call was made and arrangements made to send another one. Three days later it arrived but it was an engine that had not enough hours left on its maintenance cycle to fly it back home. The fourth time we called back they finally got us a good engine. I imagine somebody in the engine bay got a royal reaming over all this waste and checks all the paperwork before sending out an engine !

Thanks Kerosene that was great. I am glad to know AMMO troops are not the only ones that take more than 3 times to get it right.
mje and kerosene jockey Thank this. -
Relax Roy. Just get on the phone/qualcomm with dispatch and let them know ASAP !!!! the most if going to happen is that they may want to charge the miles, but don't think so.
Also if the load is going in the direction you are, you may get lucky and get that mistake asigned to you as a load.
CALL DISPATCH AND LET THEM KNOW. -

well I have to go to Gary for a talking too. but that is all. I'm glad I did not want to start over with another company I have rythum going that I like here. But I will triple check the bills from now on. If they had let me go it would be some other company that would benefit from all I have learned in the past year. And I have learned a lot. snow and ice suck. not a fan of winter anymore
