I did'nt read the entire thread.I just respond to certain posts. Why what did I miss?Reason I don't believe in CB'S is because the some of the drivers can't talk cival to women or bashing someone with an accent or just talking stupid. It did'nt take me long to get tired of it.It's been yrs since I got on the cb but I highly doubt anything has changed.

And how loud someone can burp or how long, how bad their singing is, or hear their favorite song from 40 years ago that sucked then.
I leave mine on until all that crap starts up then its off for 5minute intervals until it stops.
Sent from somewhere out therejgremlin Thanks this. -
my co-workers whine that I'm anti-social because I don't have a CB in my truck.....actually, I do have a CB, it makes a fine paper weight and the antenna's are broken off..... as to why, well let's see: I don't speak spanish, I don't hate blacks, I don't hate women, I don't think all Muslims are terrorists, oh and I don't care you opinon of lumpers, Obama, Romney, Christ, SWIFT, Werner, etc., etc., etc., etc., etc., etc.. When I go to a customer that tells me that will call me on the CB, I tell them I don't have one and they can have my cell number (I have a second prepaid cellphone for just that purpose), if that doesn't work, then they have a problem. If they tell me I have to wait on the dock, that's fine, I always have a book with me to read, or my regular phone to keep me occupied.
As for the the topic of the thread, if I see someone with a problem(s) as described, they get one call on the CB, if they don't answer, well, that's what the cops are for. They enjoy those calls even more than companies like getting calls. -
You're anti social and im not a real trk driver because I don't have a cb.Using the cb for a paper weight is an excellent idea.

Man,I agree but just weed that crap out, turn it down or whatever for a few minutes.
I run the South East and drivers still give cop reports and reports about backups, wrecks or whatever.
So i still consider my radio as useful.......Just my opinion.... -
Granted, there is a lot of crap on the CB, but it's mostly concentrated at truckstops and big cities where the radio rambos can kind of hide amongst the masses and do their thing. Once you get out of the city, it generally quiets down and the CB becomes a tool again.

I can't wait until I can get mine back. I've lost count how many times I've seen something worthy of a report and reached towards the mic that currently isn't there.

My radio has a local button that reduces the receive power so you'd basically have to be within a truck length for me to hear you. When that crap would start, I would punch the local button and leave it there until I was out of the area. Of course that meant if there was a tie up 20 miles ahead i.e. the reason you have a radio in the first place, I probably wouldn't know about it unless the guy next to me said something. After a while, I just didn't see the point in bothering with it. For every useful bit of info I got from it, I had to put up with literally hours of BS and frankly those useful bits just aren't all that useful to make it worth it for me. I don't run illegal and I don't speed so I don't really care where the cops are sitting. I don't run overweight so I could care less to know whether the scale is open before I get there. I just keep it off most of the time now.
