Thanks for the great advice. Your right too, I don't know if I'm cut out for the road or not. I will say that I'm getting more excited about driving being in the class. I have been posting on a thread about Mcelroy. They have a recruiter coming next month and everything I have heard is good. BTW, passed my permit test today!:biggrin_255: Missed 5 out of 120 I think all together. That included a tanker test. Also got to "bobtail" it around the yard a bit for the first time. I think I did well. We are going to hook up the trailer monday. I may need an anxiety pill.:biggrin_2552:

After you've been OTR for a couple of weeks or months. You'll need that same pill, when they tell you to drop trailer. And bob tail somewhere.

Is that because of your company or is that the advantages of doing it for 30 years?

Let me know when you take the CDL test for NC if some crazy question is on there. A year ago when I took mine I busted out laughing in the DMV office and everyone looked at me! I was in tears laughing so hard it caught me off guard!

Question #16; True or False --- If you are hauling livestock, you can drive faster at night because the animals will be asleep.

Someone in North Carolina has a good sense of humor on these tests, always seems there at least one crazy John Boy and Billy question on any driving test they have.

His experience, combined with his company. Most if not all companies. Pay you the same exact amount to bob tail as they do to pull a trailer. I wouldn't worry about it.

But he misread my statement for his responce. It wasn't about pay. It was about bob tailing...period. Most drivers dislike bob tailing. It's much harder to stop the unit in a sudden manner.

Wet or dry pavement, doesn't matter.

There must be some who would answer true on this given the way some bull haulers drive after dark.

I misread it too. I thought you was making a point about pay. I was doing ok shifting up but not down and my instuctor said shifting a bobtail was harder. He said since it speeds up and slows down faster its harder to grab the gears. I know it rides horrible, I hit a pothole and thought it was going to throw me thru the roof.

Don't hold your breath. Democrats have been running the entire shabang in Michigan and Louisiana for the last 10,000 years. Look at the roads in those two states.
