I would love to see were you got those facts... Seeing that you did not provide a link, I assume you pulled it out of your %^&.
A 2003 report from the American Society of Civil Engineers called 27 percent of American bridges "structurally deficient or functionally obsolete." The picture in U.S. cities is worse: the report says that one in three urban bridges qualifies as "structurally deficient."

You say nothing of the time it took to A.find the camera B. turn camera on and the time it took for it to load. and C. focus it on the werner driver...Tell me did you have your eye's on the road, really???
Not quit the same thing...Now, is it...
Shifting is the first thing you learned and one of the most frequent Repertory skills we practice...Funny, I don't recall a class on proper camera angle.
Judging by your avatar, I assume you drive for Schenider??? Being that you did nothing wrong I sure it would be no big deal for you to PM me with your name and truck number as the allow me to verify with Schenider's safety department that their policy to allow you to take pictures from a vehicle that they own and insure...no big deal right??? I'll be waiting.

Thank you, WallEye.
I'm flattered to say the least.
WahWah ---
Let me begin by expressing my heart felt, good wishes for your girlfriend and you.
Man-0-Man, I can't even begin to imagine what y'all are goin' through.
I believe your girlfriend is blessed to have a good man, such as yourself, standing by her side and sacrificing so much.
I stand at attention, and remove my well worn NASCAR cap as I offer up
my most snappy, and sincere salute,
to you, sir.
My prayers are for a speedy, and complete, recovery for
BOTH of you.
I'm glad to know that, WahWah.
Same here.
To set the record straight, I neither encourage OR discourage the behavior in question.
Merely trying to make the point that I don't think Ziggy's actions were as dangerous or unprofessional as you seem to think. My complaints about drivers pulling stupid moves doesn't begin or end with new drivers, but rather ANY driver.Do you REALLY believe that snapping a photo while looking straight ahead is so distracting as to be dangerous?
I'm thinkin' it's a lot less distracting than, say, tryin' to find an address or street name while in heavy city traffic.
Big truck truck drivers are required and expected to do that almost on a daily basis, and they seem to manage that without mishap.
As "professional" drivers, I think we handle our tasks better than the average motorist. My experience has taught me that some drivers are more capable of Multi-Tasking than others, and not ALL new drivers are unable to do that. And not all seasoned drivers are any better at that than some of the new(er) drivers. I just all depends.
Multi-Tasking IS a requirement that a professional driver must be capable of doing. It just goes with the territory and is a learned ability.
I still think that by capturing a photo of a wrong-way Big truck, complete with the area in which it occurred, could be beneficial to others who read and view the photo -- (a picture is worth a thousand words) -- to avoid getting into the same situation themselves, --- which, to my way of thinkin', a wrong way Big truck is by far more potentially dangerous than snapping a quick photo of another driver who experienced such a mishap.
Many newBees read these threads, and a photo of a mishap could drive home a point they won't forget, which, I think, would help promote safety.
And I seriously doubt that Ziggystyles would jeopardize the immediate safety of the motoring public just to snap a photo, regardless of his experience. He doesn't impress me as an irresponsible Big truck truck driver.
Now, what REALLY sizzles my bacon, are those who allow themselves to be distracted by talkin' on their cell phones,
ESPECIALLY in traffic.
Don't EVEN get me started on THAT subject.

Again, best wishes for your girlfriend, WahWah.
And you as well.

-
Thank you...
I think we need to agree to disagree(except forth cell phone thing, On this I agree and that experience doesn't necessarily make one a good driver.).
If I am being honest, two weeks ago this probably would have been a non-issue...But I try to learn from dramatic circumstances, and if me being so hardheaded makes him think twice about taking his eye off the road(even for a second), then I will accept the holier than thou way it makes me look...Because it will be worth it.
-
Sounds fair to me.
At least it's not all that serious of a disagreement, and has made for
some interesting dialog and brought up something for others to consider.
I crave stimulating conversations and the truth of any given matter
is my goal. One thing I DON'T require, is that others ALWAYS agree with me, or even at all.
NopE!
It's through disagreeing that either strengthens my own beliefs,
or causes me to change them --- according to what I learn.
Your candidness is much appreciated.
And, by golly, if what you're goin' through right now isn't a good reason to make an issue out of an otherwise non-issue, I don't know what is.
Your loyalty to your girlfriend favorably impresses me more than you may be able to comprehend. Where others may have abandoned the one they claim to love, your actions speak volumes as to your character.
I sure won't argue with that, WahWah.
Safety is NO accident, and it's ALWAYS better to be safe
than sorry.
And, for what it's worth, please tell your girlfriend that ol' AfterShock
is rooting for her complete and speedy recovery, and in his prayers.
Thank goodness you had a roll-cage installed in your Camero.
I'd say that was 20/20 FOREsight on your part.
-
Thank you, so very kindly for your good wishes, "She says thank soo very much...as well.
I can't claim responsibility for that... It was at my dads insistence that it was installed. I did not want it at all, but my dad said "if you don't put one in then I am not paying for it" and since I was only sixteen I did not argue(ok, I did)...And up until two Saturday's ago I hated it with a passion, and (gasp) almost removed it a few years ago(dbl. gasp) but the insurance would have sky rocked.
So anyways, it was my dad who had the 20/20 foresight... go figure...lol -
HeY!
I don't know if your girlfriend is able to type at this time, but if she is, or she knows SOMEbody (*wink-wink*) who can type for her, I think many of us would like to hear from her --- even if it's just her name.
We're, as you probably already know, a pretty friendly, tight-knit and diversified group. And I think we ALL share in the concern for her recovery. If we can be of ANY assistance, even if it's for her to just pass some time, I think I can speak for all of us when I say we'd feel most honored to have her join us.
So, I extend this most sincere invitation --- Please join us.
HeY!
I'm a baaadd man ------->
But for her, I PROMISE to be ------->
Whatt'ya say?
Deal
or
No deal?
Come on!
You KNOW you WANT to.
Right?
Father Knows Best!
I reckon
It's twue!
It's twue!
And while y'all are at it, thank ol' dad for us.
I know he knows, but I think he should know that we know, too.
THANX!
wahwah70 Thanks this. -
I remember once yrs ago, when working for a home improvement co. I drove their F-350 with a 12ft flat bed in the back. Well I was making a delivery out side of Boston Ma, and had to find the name of a street painted on a rock LOL Well I found it alright and it took me (what I thought was a long driveway) into the woods. It was at night, and you guessed it, I had to back all the way out. It had to have been about a 1/8 to 1/4 mile backwards... It never failed the girls in the office couldn't give directions to find their way out of a paper bag..
-
Sorry, but you are wrong.
What are some accident statistics?
Estimates of 41,000 to 45,000 traffic deaths occur every year within the U.S.. Walkers and bikers account for 15% of the total traffic deaths each year. Fewer than 9% of those deaths involve commercial vehicles. More than 80% of those accidents are the fault of the non-commercial driver.
Next to me
one, one thousand...ready. Doesnt require taking eyes off road either, sorry.
Lol...did you miss that part where I mentioned the continuous shoot feature of my camera and how I took 16 pictures in about three seconds, by driving and aiming the camera out taking random pictures?
Because camera operation requires the brain skills of a gnat.
Hey, you find me where Schneider says in their materials where aiming a camera outside of a moving truck going over a bridge and taking pictures is against company policy and results in termination, Ill PM you a autographed pumpkin postcard. And actually, you don't need my info to do that, just email em and ask em.
Lol...I ask for more work to keep me busy and I don't get any...so I have to deal with this instead.Last edited by a moderator: Nov 3, 2008

She will, but on her own... as she is a do it herself kinda girl...Welcome to my world...LOL
She is unable to use her right hand right know, and her left arm has the IV and pulse monitors on her finger( I think it best we don't send the hospital staff running...LOL)
Easy AfterShock, are you trying to get my girl to cheat on me with the Truckers report.com??? This won't bode well for me...LOL
He knows, and surprisingly enough he hasn't brought it up... -
That European Video made me think of the straight truck deliveries I've made to job sites.
"Yeah, where is this crew again?"
"on the West bound interstate between exits 84 & 92"
"And how am I supposed to get there?"
"Go to the brige on Knucklehead Road, someone will meet you there"
And what do I find there? A guy sitting at a gate who directs me to go down the highway 3.5 miles in reverse! to meet up with the construction crew sitting in a ditch with all their heavy equipment on stand by. At least the cones were up already. For the most part anyway.
