I'm in Willington, CT This is a PAY TO PARK TA, AVOID this place like the Jessup, MD TA.
American Truckerrocknroll nik Thanks this. -
can you get reimbursed? otherwise some give you a pass for spending like 20 bucks or fuel..
i got stuck last night where for the first time i had no verizon! internet or phone! boring needless to say. what happened was a ####load of wind and this furniture load were not agreeing. i parked once, was gonna get lunch anyway. about 1.5 hours. it wasnt windy over there so i said im off!! got 45 minutes and i called it for the day. isnt 40mph the cutoff for a light trailer? well i do wyoming a lot and i have done 55mph wind(heavy) and these were up there, not safe at all.
oh i did see my first ever radioactive placard! i always look its just a weird random thing ive always wanted to see.
anyway last night to this morning it was blowing hard and snow was flying. i waited till about 1030 and decided i was going to go, slowly, and make some progress only had 330 miles to go.
worst idea ever.
it didnt take me too long to find a slick spot and the wind was worse than yesterday, trailer blew completely sideways and i started going with it. i dont know, i saved it because you know time slows way down when your pretty sure your about to crash and that helps. after i countered once the guy behind me decided he was just going to pass me so i have to counter back while im already halfway in his lane as hes flying by, and it got straight after that. and there was like noooo where to park so i went like 25mph for an hour until i got somewhere safe. screw this load i dont care if its a week late haha this wind needs to end before i move another inch.Jarhed1964 Thanks this. -

I can get reinbursed (if I pay) , and I bought fuel as well. And since this is probably the last TS i'll get to until thursday I'm going to stock up on food and stuff before I leave so I shouldnt have to pay anything...

Missoula terminal. Drop at furniture row in the morning, then truck gets a lube job and headlights adjusted. I just think it would be too cool if they were actually pointed at the road.. Drove thru wy, yesterday, very windy, no ice, 28k pound load.. not terrible, but some serious pucker factor...

Love's St Joseph, MO. Figured out the trick to fueling here....get here later in the day! Normally a hella line for fuel, pulled right into a pump! We'll see how it goes trying to get out of here tomorrow though.
BNR32: Same thing happened to me in Idaho, sent me completely sideways. Luckily there was no on beside or behind me. Almost parked the rig and walked away! -
yeah it was bad enough having to look out the side window to see ahead of me for a minute there but having to avoid that other truck? i wonder if i can get reimbursed for that pair of pants.
i ended up making it out, with my new found internet i checked the weather, and wind speeds, in EVERY major town the rest of the way and it was just a bit more of the heavy stuff, which was a lie, but still nothing too crazy. just a big gust now and then but kept mostly straight into it.
i got sideways in the same area 2 years ago actually, towing a car with my pickup. that was probably the last time i was that scared too. -
stopped at the TA in North Bend (just outside Seattle) yesterday afternoon.. thinking: its a big lot and its only 4pm local, there'll be plenty of spots. But ohhh no.. not even 1.
Wonder if its always like that there.. -
So now I got to the rcvr in Kent, WA @ 6am. Firm! No one's showed up till 8. two hours after that, they still haven't unloaded the two WS trucks that docked last night. And I'm sitting forever.. is this normal?? I could've slept in a few more hours.
