So the load I'm on is going through Wyoming is coming in on I90 and leaving on I80. I'm 14' wide 95' long Legal height legal weight, We just talk to one of our escorts and she says that she wants to make passed powder river Pass tomorrow. That tells me they routed us up US16. Is this a normal oversize route? I really can't see them rputing up US16 being the size that we are

Your papers for the oversize that came from the State has the routing on it. That is what you use with your truck. If your pilot car driver has a different opinion etc then that driver is not with the program of routing prescribed by the state.

    Does that make sense?

In my mind, Pilot cars and drivers go where YOU go. No ifs buts or maybes.

You don't preorder wyoming, you call them ahead of time, give your dimensions, then proceed to the port of entry that they want to go to, then they check your dimensions and issue the permit

Wyoming has an application online to fill out that will give you a permission number. Do not proceed without it. Once you have the number go to the nearest POE.

    cke and Oldironfan Thank this.

I have done quite a bit of oversize in Wyoming. You will come in at the Sundance port of entry. Make sure you call ahead and get a pre-clearance number or they will be upset with you. No worries though, the people there are pretty easy to work with. I would not take 16 if I were you. They can tell you at Sundance what a good route is. I don't know current width restrictions along I-80 but if you can I would take the following route:

    (1) I-90 to exit 129. Go by port of entry there (you don't have to stop at that one). Turn right after exiting on 129 and go about a mile to Garner Lake Road and turn right. Follow that about 3 miles or so to Highway 50 and turn left.
    (2) Follow Highway 50 south to 387, turn right.
    (3) Follow 387 to 259, turn left.
    (4) Follow 259 to I-25 South.
    (5) I-25 South to Highway 220.
    (6) Highway 220 to Highway 287 to Rawlins where you will get on I-80 West. Then follow I-80 West the rest of the way.

If any width restrictions on I-80 then instead follow same directions except in Casper take 20/26 to Riverton, then take 789 to Lander, then 28 to 372 to 189 and to 80 in Evanston.

    Best wishes to you!

    Oxbow and Oldironfan Thank this.
