I have the jumpy throttle issue in the new X15 - 525/1850 I'm driving. Just turned 30K miles today. This is the third X15 I've broken in over the last few years and I have to say I've liked each one less than the previous. Seems like the engineers are bent on effing up a good thing.

Sorry to bring up an old thread but could someone explain the purpose of the productivity series??
If as advertised the sub 500hp still use the “efficiency “ series parameters and the 565+ hp still are using the performance parameters/hardware what’s the point??? The only difference I’ve seen is the governed speed is a few hundred rpm high on the productivity series compared to the others two.
Bosses are looking into new trucks and are saying they can get 500s and then turn them up to 565.
I know that’s not possible on the stand alone efficiency series but would be somehow in the productivity line?

I would tell your boss to just order the horsepower and torque you need for your application and stop trying to be cheap about it.

Uprating to save money is not as easy as a flash.

Ohh if it only it was that easy. I’m still trying to understand the benefits/difference of the productivity series other the other two

For the earlier ISX series, the 450 hp version for example has lighter duty pistons, one less thermostat and a few things which lowers the cost of buying the smaller hp engine over the 600 hp signature series.

So increasing the power of the 450 hp to a 600 tune will end up with a overheated engine, broken piston etc.

Cummins is selling the same displacement across all the ISX engines but changing the internals and tune to work with the power it is set for what the customer wants.

Ive got an X15 Productivity 500 in my 389. Not by choice but thats what it came with. As far as I know, more marketed towards vocational trucks and basically a mishmash of parts between the two and more "direct" programming. Whereas the efficiency 500 is I believe governed at 1700 rpm with more computer intervention. I dont know for sure, but I do not believe the Productivity 500 can be bumped up (at least not without aftermarket tune) because its more of the "Efficiency" hardware set

All I know for sure is that I'm half a gear slower than my buddy's truck with the Performance 565/2050, my factory warranty is 2 years longer than his, and my retired D16 truck smokes em' both.
