So far I have only put 9000km on it. For my application it could use more horsepower, I slow down on hills more than with my n14 525 1850 Cummins I just sold. But because I don't have to shift gears.... I don't mind. I am actually getting worse fuel mileage than my n14 was, I really hope that changes once the engine is broken in. For the weight you haul this would be perfect, you wouldn't even notice the hills.

I have had mine for a little over 2 months. Initial report is this truck really shines in 8-12th which is where the 2050 tq is, if im not mistaken middle gears are 1850, bottom ones 1650. I use mine for super b in southern BC and it is walking all over the detroits and doing it in the same or less fuel and with just 30,000km on it Im sure it will get better yet. Initial butt dyno suggests it feels comparable to an old 550 cat on the pull and an ISX on the jake. Im excited to see how it does after it loosens up and we get back on summer fuel. If you are running 5 axle, the XE16 might be overkill though - this thing likes to work hard. For my application, I find it to be overgeared for some of the places I go but its too soon to tell if the 550/1850 with 3.76 ratio would have been the better choice.

If you go with the XE16 I would suggest against the Horton 2 speed fan clutch, mine seized a week in and torqued right off the block. Im sure I just got a bad one, but I was down for 6 days due to zero part stock in north America so that hurt. Thermostat stuck open the following week and some small coolant leaks, another 2 days. Hoping there's not many bugs to follow but so far so good since then.

There is xe16 80,000 or 140,000. I have the 140k As I'm sure sirjeff does, I bet the programming and shift points would be different for the 80k version.

I also really notice the 2050 torque in those top gears. I was following a western star tri axle logging truck, 475 cat. He was joking around because I wanted to pass him. "you really think that little Volvo has the balls to pass"? I laughed and told him to gun it up the next hill as it was a long hard pull after a river.... I popped it into p+ mode and halfway up I was door to door waving at him laughing my ars off before I tucked back in behind him.

After alot of swearing, he wanted to know the specs of my truck haha. Not bad for being 40,000lbs heavier.
