I put mine on top of the fender mirror, ran the wire down the mirror post and along the small seam in the hood, then through the grill and along the frame, then through the firewall. This way it always has a clear view of the sky.

If you have an XM/sirius radio and qualcomm, the XM antenna might be built into the Qualcomm. It is on my truck.

I have mine velcroed to the top of the cab and have not had to much problems. I am still trying to figure a way to mount one of the vertical antennas though, give me time I will figure a way.

    ZippyNH Thanks this.

When I first got XM I had one of those truck antennas. I mounted it up by the Qualcomm. Ran the wire by following the Qualcomm harness down & under the cab, up through engine compartment then through the firewall (which had an existing hole). Then I drilled a small hole in dash and inserted a small rubber grommet. The hole in dash looked like it belonged there & professionally installed (if I do say so myself)

Actually, that's an excellent idea. Was there enough cable on the button antenna (I assume that's what you used), or did you have to get an extension?

Not sure if you have found a spot yet, i didnt read everything, but I have the "truck" antena not the mag mount and what I did was mount it to the back of cab. Took out a screw to the farring and put the bracket there and put the screw back in. Turned it at a slight angle so it leans back just a little and it works great. Cord is long enough to go under the truck and go all the way to my dash where my satalite is located. Have had no problems out of it at all and like it because its out of the way and cant be seen. Have had it there pulling a dry box and reefer and no problems getting signal

They sell a mounting bar for the cascadia, you take out a mirror screw and put it in instead, then mount the vertical antenna. Iowa 80 has them on their website.

Can you open the hood that way?

Yes, if you run the wire along the frame to the front of the truck, where the hood pivots, then route it up to the fender mirror you will be fine.
