They used to give out bonuses $$ for being safe. Maybe you're going to be the happy recipient of a document that thanks you for driving safely for a year? Not much in compensation, but it is nice if you're recognized for it. Or maybe you will receive your belt buckle? Or it could be a deck of cards? We still have that deck of cards and I take it out once in awhile for a good laugh when I read what they say. Hubby still wears his belt buckles with the precious stones embedded in them for driving safely for years. BFD.

Why shouldn't anybody talk about it? Something done under the table to get the approval to go PUBLIC?

Key word....PUBLIC....when in the open stock market, any inside secrets that can and/or will effect the price or trading potential of the stock....well Jerry already has that strike against him....maybe he still wants to be a roommate with insider trading folks!

It's not at all unusual for a company to ask it's employees not to discuss the amounts of a gift. Especially if that company has employees, contract employees and whatever the heck L/Os consider themself to be today.

It's a freaking gift not some major subversive plot.

Perhaps some people and I don't mean you specifically Tom, should try for once to look past their own little self centered agendas and not try and create some nasty little illegal plot at Swift.

Is it standard practice for anyone to "discuss" what they get in a bonus with other employees...it didn't used to be...what I make is my business, not anyone else. And the fool that needs to brag about a bonus just might be bragging to someone that got a bigger bonus! wouldn't that make the fool appear a bigger fool?!

Contracted people would not get a "company" bonus.

this alone would have stopped the "discussion"!

Usually the paranoid find the paranoia and react to it exponentially!
