Been with the company 20 years. Has it’s good points and bad points. Best advise I can give, ignore the drama... and there’s drama, do your job safely, and don’t sweat the small stuff.

Got a tentative job offer at XPO yesterday. The service center manager seemed like a decent and fair guy and sounded like he knew the business inside/out. $22/hr to start, scaling up to $29/hr over 3 years. It sounded like about 55 hours per week currently. Extra work is occasionally available on Saturdays too, when senior Drivers don't take it. Possibly getting a healthy sign-on bonus over 18 months too, which is awesome. It sounds like a lot of dock work, especially at first, but I'm willing to pay my dues. Overall, I'm pretty excited about it.

Good for you. LTL is a unique beast and had I had better management at the terminal I was at with R&L and less commute I would've retired from it. Be patient, stay out of the break room drama and it can be a good run. Best of luck!

You mean you don't like double standards?
Come on driver, be a team player so a lazy guy doesn't have to work more than 8 hours.

Good for you. Lots of bs in the company, try to ignore it. Guys will fill your head with all kinds of #### and rumours, pm me and I’ll tell you the truth. There’s lots of work at most barns, some are much heavier in one lane, so Linehaul can be a bit lopsided. Lots of money to be made if your willing to work. Don’t worry about the dock, most is forklift work.LtlAnonymous and HiramKingWilliams Thank this.

XPO involves drivers in the dock work, for a pretty good hourly $ rate. You will have to work the dock when you're new. After some time with the company, you can bid jobs that involve less dock work, if you choose.

From what I've heard Central is great for making you finish out your 14 after your run with forklift time.

Congrats on the job offer!

Thanks! This may sound odd, but I’m considering passing on the job and doing OTR food-grade tanker for a while so I can not pay rent/utilities and stack cash. I’m recently single and would love to pay off bills, buy a Harley, and put together a down payment for a home.
