I’m thinking 6-12 months of OTR, and staying in my car when I have a few days off every few months. Then getting a good tanker or LTL gig in TX, KY, TN or WV, buy a little place for under $100k and enjoying the rest of this life. Hell, you can MAYBE buy a tiny lot here for that much, haha. California is developmentally disabled.

Trucking Jobs in 30 seconds
Every month 400 people find a job with the help of TruckersReport.

All my stuff would be in storage for about $100/month. Beats $2k/month in rent and utilities!

Don’t take this the wrong way, but you got your license less than a month ago, just landed a job (your first job at that) at a good LTL outfit where you can make some serious money with decent benefits... and your grand idea is to say “fornicate it, I’m gonna go live in a truck OTR for maybe a year and save money”?
If you can, maybe consider renting a room close to your XPO location for less than a grand a month. Save the reduction in rent while still making a considerably better income than you would while OTR while also having a considerably better quality of life in the process. Buy the dream house in BFE later on and TRANSFER to a different terminal, having your job waiting for you when you move.Texas_hwy_287, upnorthwpg, singleaxle and 7 others Thank this. -
Great point!

Anyone know what all is involved with the second physical? The post-offer physical. I'm guessing it's a few basic things like lifting a certain amount of weight, etc.
-
Knocked out the road test today. Can’t wait to get onboard!
LTLdreamin, Speed_Drums, McUzi and 1 other person Thank this. -
How was the road test? I've got an interview next Tuesday.
-
Pretty straight forward. One short form to fill out. Pre-trip walkaround, back the tractor up to a trailer and hook it up, drive through town, back into a loading dock, drive through town more, back trailer into a space at the yard and unhook it from the tractor, park the tractor. Took about an hour. I got a call from HR today saying they'd make me an offer in a few days. Then I believe the only thing left is the POPS Physical.
-
And the tractor was an automatic, which I was kinda surprised about, but I suppose it made things a tiny bit easier.

Thanks for the heads up! Will you be on the P&D side or Linehaul?
